Tom Kane, a voice actor known for roles in “Star Wars” and “Powerpuff Girls,” died Monday. He was 64.
Kane’s death was confirmed in a statement posted to Facebook by his talent agency Galactic Productions.
“Today we say goodbye to Tom Kane — a legendary voice actor whose work shaped the childhoods and imaginations of millions around the world,” the statement read. “From his unforgettable performances in ‘Star Wars’ to countless animated series, documentaries and games, Tom brought wisdom, strength, humor and heart to every role he touched. His voice became part of our lives, our memories, and the stories we carry with us.”
The statement concluded: “Though his voice may now be silent, the characters, stories, and love he gave to the world will live on forever. Rest in peace, Tom Kane. Thank you for everything. May the Force be with you, always.”
Over the course of Kane’s long career, he voiced iconic characters like Yoda (in addition to other characters) in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and Admiral Ackbar in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” He voiced Professor Utonium in Cartoon Network’s “The Powerpuff Girls” from 2016 to 2019.

Kane also leant his voice to a number of video games, including the “Call of Duty” franchise, “Harry Potter: Magic Awakened,” “Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga” and “Marvel Future Revolution,” among many others.
According to the actor’s IMDb, he began doing voiceover work at just 15 in Kansas City, his hometown.
In 2020, Variety reported that Kane had suffered a stroke that left him largely unable to speak.
The statement also nodded to Kane’s reputation as a family man. “But beyond the incredible career was an extraordinary man,” it read. “Tom was a devoted husband and father who, alongside his wife, built a loving family of nine children — three biological and six welcomed through adoption and fostering. That compassion and generosity defined who he was just as much as his remarkable talent did.”
Kane is survived by his wife, Cindy, and their children.
