Crunchyroll and Aniplex have unveiled that the new theatrical anime film “Solo Leveling: Beyond the System,” based on the popular Korean novel and webtoon series, is now in production.

“Solo Leveling: Beyond the System” is animated by A-1 Pictures (”Sword Art Online”). The film is
produced by Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C MEDIA, Kakao piccoma and Crunchyroll.
First launched in 2016 as a web novel, “Solo Leveling” takes place “in a world where mysterious portals known as Gates connect different dimensions to reality, and where humans with special abilities known as Hunters exist. Sung Jinwoo, the lowest-ranked Hunter and widely regarded as ‘the weakest weapon of mankind,’ suddenly gains the unique ability to level up. Overcoming countless trials, he rises from the weakest to become the strongest,” according to an official description. The original webtoon series was created by Chugong, illustrated by DUBU (REDICE STUDIO), and adapted by h-goon (published by D&C MEDIA).
The “Solo Leveling” anime series debuted in January 2024 and launched its second season a year later. Season 3 is expected to be released at the end of 2026. Cast members include Taito Ban, Aleks Le, Rebecca Wang, Makoto Furukawa, SungWon Cho, Haruna Mikawa, Daisuke Hirakawa and Ian Sinclair.
According to Billboard’s Book Hot 100 List for Japan, the latest “Solo Leveling” physical release, Vol. 25, was the No.1 best-selling book in the country for the week of June 22-28.
