Founded by Caroline Hirsch in 2004, the New York Comedy Festival has featured the biggest names in stand-up over the years, taking over iconic New York City venues including the Beacon Theatre, Carnegie Hall, Kings Theatre and countless clubs. In addition to stand-up, the fest has also embraced live podcast recordings, sketch and improv showcases, conversations and more.

Plus, for the first time, the New York Comedy Festival will welcome Variety‘s prestigious 10 Comics to Watch program as part of its lineup, bringing one of the comedy industry’s most respected showcases of emerging talent to New York audiences. The presentation and live showcase will take place on Nov. 12 during the festival, with this year’s honorees also featured in Variety‘s Nov. 4 issue ahead of the event.  Since launching the franchise in 2000, Variety has identified many of comedy’s biggest future stars, including Wanda Sykes, Nate Bargatze, Patton Oswalt, Fred Armisen and Zach Galifianakis, as well as recent breakout talents such as Ayo Edebiri, Hannah Einbinder, Caleb Hearon and Julio Torres.

“Each year, the New York Comedy Festival serves as both a celebration of comedy’s biggest voices and a showcase for the talent shaping its future,” said Hirsch in a statement. “This year’s lineup brings together established stars, fan favorites, and a remarkable new generation of comedians.  We’re very proud to continue making New York City the epicenter of the comedy world, where artists, industry leaders, and fans come together to experience the very best the art form has to offer.”
