Venice Film Festival has revealed the lineup for this year’s masterclasses, featuring George Clooney, Ellen Burstyn, Luca Guadagnino and more.
The masterclasses will once again take place at the Lido’s Match Point Arena, which can seat 250 accredited guests, and will also be livestreamed on the festival’s website. In addition to Clooney and Burstyn, who are both receiving Venice’s Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at this year’s edition, French filmmaker Luc Besson is also set to give a masterclass.All talks will begin at 4 p.m., with Clooney’s scheduled for Sept. 3, Besson’s Sept. 6 and Burstyn’s Sept. 8.
Meanwhile, Guadagnino and “Hamnet” director Chloé Zhao will participate in masterclasses presented b Cartier and themed around “The Art and Craft of Cinema.” Zhao will be in conversation with Polish cinematographer Lukasz Zal, her collaborator on “Hamnet,” with the event taking place Sept. 4 at 3:30 p.m. Guadagnino, who will be honored with Cartier’s Glory to the Filmmaker Award during this year’s fest, will deliver his class on Sept. 7 at 3:30 p.m.

The 83rd Venice Film Festival kicks off on Sept. 2 with the premiere of “Ink,” Danny Boyle’s Rupert Murdoch drama starring Jack O’Connell, Guy Pearce and Claire Foy, which is also in the running for the prestigious Golden Lion for best film. Other titles in competition include Lance Oppenheim’s “Primetime,” starring Robert Pattinson; Casey Affleck’s “Company”; Werner Herzog’s “Bucking Fastard,” with Kate and Rooney Mara; Hirokazu Kore-eda’s “Look Back”; Martin McDonagh’s “Wild Horse Nine”; Florian Zeller’s “Bunker” led by Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem and more.
