Ryan Murphy‘s long-running anthology series “American Horror Story” is back for Season 13, and the new trailer teases Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters’ returns in the all-star season.
While Lange will be reprising all four of her former “AHS” characters, Peters will play five different people and Paulson will play six. Lange was last seen over a decade ago in “Freak Show,” while Peters and Paulson both last appeared in “Double Feature.”
Angela Bassett is reprising her role as Marie Laveau from “Apocalypse,” Emma Roberts is returning as Madison Montgomery from “Apocalypse” and Jamie Brewer is returning as Adelaide Langdon, who appeared all the way back in “Murder House.” New additions to the cast include “Love Story” star Paul Anthony Kelly, “Pink Flamingos” director John Waters, “Mean Girls” star Avantika Vandanapu, “American Crime” series regular Joey Pollari and model Alex Consani.
Since debuting in 2011 with “Murder House,” “American Horror Story” has embraced an anthology style, with each season bringing new cast members and new murderous monsters. Across all 13 seasons, the show has been nominated for over 50 Emmys, with actors like Kathy Bates and Lange taking home awards.
“Some of them will be playing two characters from two different seasons in the same scene,” Murphy teased to Variety about the returning cast. “Evan [Peters] was, at one point, playing two different characters and talking to himself. So it was really fun and tricky to make, and I loved that. I’ve edited almost all of them, and I think they’re really good.”
The trailer comes after the release of “The Shards,” which Murphy adapted from Bret Easton Ellis’ novel. His fourth “Monster” installment, titled “The Lizzie Borden Story,” is set to release on Netflix Sept. 17.

“American Horror Story” Season 13 will premiere Sept. 24 on FX and Hulu.
