Invited to enter the filmmaker\u2019s intimate space, we get acquainted to her young boys Kai (3) and Matti (5). <\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cWhile Paz searches for a job, she rents out a room in her house to tenants who come and go at the fleeting pace of Airbnb tourism. The children\u2019s overwhelming emotions clash with the weight of financial pressure, and the days blur into one another,\u201d reads the logline. As the kids fight harder for their mother\u2019s attention, Matti discovers a talent for prolonged apnea, dangerously holding his breath for longer and longer stretches of time.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cWhen my kids were born, it felt like a secret world opened up, very different from what I thought it would be,\u201d confessed the filmmaker who felt an urge to tell the world \u201chow kids really are-wild, intensely violent, completely fragile,\u201d and to portray her own morphing into motherhood. \u201cSuddenly the [kids] behaviour which drove me crazy also fascinated me. I didn\u2019t want to tame them, but rather ask myself when I became so tame. As if I myself had to become wilder to be able to live together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/relocationobserver.com\/?p=1182\">Inside Ranveer Singh\u2019s \u2018Don 3\u2019 Exit, Bollywood\u2019s Biggest Industry Standoff in Years<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tSospedra, who was introduced to F\u00e1brega through filmmaker Natalia Cabrera, praised \u201cTo the Future\u201d\u2019s inspiring themes. \u201cOne of its central themes is demystifying motherhood and showing the reality of how difficult it can be to raise future human beings \u2013 especially if you have a career in the film business! Then at its core, and equally important to me, is how children become independent through the development of their imagination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cThe film is also about creativity and the legacy Paz is passing on to her children,\u201d added the Catalan producer. \u201cThrough the process of making a film together, she is giving them the power to create, to imagine, and to envision the future they want to build for themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFor F\u00e1brega, due to the personal subject matter, shaping the narrative was \u201cthe hardest part.\u201d \u201cWhen it\u2019s your life and especially things that you\u2019re going through, you don\u2019t have the distance to help you see,\u201d she admitted. She therefore put together a strong team around her who helped her build the scenes out of her everyday life with her kids, and shot \u201cin a very intimate way, not typical to documentaries, to make the material alive and free.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe group of photographers included Roberto Murillo \u2013 F\u00e1brega\u2019s own life partner, Emiliano Z\u00fa\u00f1iga, Adrianne Robert and Karin Porley.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOn the editing team are Aina Calleja (credited for Aina Clotet\u2019s Cannes Critics\u2019 Week winning film \u201cViva\u201d), Clea Eppelin, and Magdalena Schinca who scanned more than 45 hours of footage filmed over two years. \u00a0<br \/>F\u00e1brega, who says the title was suggested by her eldest son Matti, sees her pic as \u201cas sort of letter to the future.\u201d \u201cThe future is something I think about a lot, what kind of world will my kids have. I feel like, if there is any hope ahead, it has to do with turning our attention back to birth and death; for the important things that shape our lives and see them as they are; raw, complex, miracles. And taking care of each other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAt ECAM Forum, F\u00e1brega and Sospedra will be looking for sales agents and distributors. \u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to having feedback on the film.
