\n\tSummer is back in session! And with it comes \u201cLove Island USA\u201d Season 8 on Peacock, complete with host Ariana Madix, narrator Iain Stirling and a new set of single islanders looking to find love.<\/p>\n

Things officially kick off with the arrival of marketing director and Georgia native Aniya Harvey, who says she\u2019s looking for a husband and expects a ring by the end of the season and fellow Georgian Kenzie Annis, who finished nursing school a day before flying out to Fiji. She says she\u2019s \u201crevirginized because it\u2019s been a year and a half.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next up is Melanie Moreno from Philadelphia\/Los Angeles, who says she doesn\u2019t use the term girl\u2019s girl \u2014 \u201cIf you hear that shit, red fucking flag\u201d \u2013 which may or may not be in reference to the Season 7 contestants that repeated the line throughout their run.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the group of women is Paralympian Beatriz Hatz and Trinity Tatum. Hatz is from San Diego, runs track and field and considers herself competitive, while Tatum, who quit her hardware store job for \u201cLove Island,\u201d jokes that she\u2019s \u201ca personality hire\u201d and is looking for a \u201cgolden retriever\u201d type of man.<\/p>\n

The sixth female contestant (Vasana Montgomery) was kicked off the show after a video of her singing along to racial slurs surfaced.<\/p>\n

\n\tOnce everyone got acquainted, Madix joined the group and got to the good stuff \u2013 why they\u2019re here. Moreno says she hasn\u2019t had much luck in the romantic department but has so much love to give; Tatum joins Harvey in the search for a husband; Annis says she\u2019s \u201cnot a roster girl,\u201d (which she does acknowledge is the plot of \u201cLove Island\u201d); Harvey says she dates a lot and won\u2019t settle for less; and Hatz has dealt with men being insecure due to her career.<\/p>\n

Bryce Dettloff and Sincere Rhea are the first men to arrive; Rhea does track and field (like Hatz), and is smart enough not to say he could beat a Team USA athlete in a race. Rhea says his parents would call him \u201ca ladies\u2019 man,\u201d and admits to being one: \u201cI would be selfish not to spread the love.\u201d Dettloff, a model based in New York, says he\u2019s \u201csensitive and emotional\u201d to a chorus of \u201cawws\u201d\u2014and Annis calling him \u201ca simp.\u201d \u201cWe\u2019re not saying it\u2019s a bad thing!\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n

Next up, Zach Georgiou \u2014 Season 7\u2019s Charlie Georgiou\u2019s younger brother\u2013\u2013 walks in and introduces himself as a nepo-sibling straight off the bat at Madix\u2019s request. The Birmingham native\u2019s intro is \u201cWhat Makes You Beautiful,\u201d by the way, since Georgiou \u201cloves One Direction.\u201d In terms of women, he\u2019s looking for a \u201cfun, cool American girl.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police officer Sean Reifel (who says he was called \u201cOfficer Sexypants\u201d by a civilian and her family) reveals he\u2019s a dad! Papacita? Unlike Season 7\u2019s Huda Mustafa, Reifel is quick to tell the group about his son and the fact that he moved to Pennsylvania to support his child\u2019s mother. Reifel is joined by nursing assistant and Californian KC Chandler, who admits to liking the chase, but \u201cwould rather be a lover boy.\u201d He loves his freedom, but would give it up for the right woman, FYI.<\/p>\n

Madix crowns them the first 10 islanders of the season, taking them straight into a multiple-choice answer compatibility test where islanders stand behind doors, each marked with answer options. If the door opens to multiple people, contestants must kiss each person on the other side.<\/p>\n

Questions range from favorite sex position (with Madix asking the contestants why they each chose said positions); if you\u2019re a dog, cat, or plant person; if it\u2019s okay to check your partner\u2019s phone; and if you\u2019re here to find love \u2013 split into no, maybe, and \u201chell yeah!\u201d \u2013 which obviously results in a communal makeout, ensuring everyone has been kissed by every single contestant of the opposite gender.<\/p>\n

After the last round, the girls get to pick which boy they want to couple up with. Tatum picks Dettloff, becoming the first couple of the season; Hatz goes for Reifel after the pair kissed in each round of the blind game; no one steps up for Chandler, who is eventually coupled up with Harvey after Rhea chooses Moreno over her; and Annis couples up with Georgiou.<\/p>\n

The night doesn\u2019t end there \u2013 each pair wanders off to get to know each other, and there\u2019s a lot of talk of the Eagles, Georgiou\u2019s \u201cdarker features,\u201d Tatum and Dettloff\u2019s seven-year age gap and country music, which Hatz would \u201crather acquire another disability\u201d than listen to. Afterward they split into guys vs. girls for a debrief.<\/p>\n

Day 2 begins with Tatum saying she\u2019s never had avocado toast before (\u201cLove Island\u201d sacrilege) and Georgiou is unsure \u201cif there\u2019s a vibe\u201d with him and Annis. There was also a makeout sesh for Rhea and Moreno, and Dettloff says he \u201cdoesn\u2019t want to steal [Tatum\u2019s] youth\u201d since he\u2019s almost 30 and she\u2019s 22.<\/p>\n

Madix appears at night to summon the group to the firepit, where she reveals that each islander will have to decide whether to stay with their partner or start a new connection by standing on the colour-coded green and red dots, respectively, behind yet another set of closed doors.<\/p>\n

Before the doors open and reveal the contestants\u2019 choices, two new bombshells enter the villa ready to kiss the contestants on red dots \u2014 Gabriel Vasconcelos, who was demoted from OG status to balance out the numbers after Montgomery was booted, ends up leading Tatum and Hatz out of the villa hand-in-hand, while Kayda Reese Bosse picks Georgiou and Dettloff, leaving the rest of the contestants shocked and unsure of what just happened.<\/p>\n
