Deal Tossed: \u2018Clumsy Attempt to Politicize Antitrust Litigation\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cThe Odyssey,\u201d Christopher Nolan\u2018s sprawling adaptation of Homer\u2019s epic poem, has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association. It\u2019s unclear why the picture got this designation (we\u2019re guessing some minotaur carnage and body-count heavy battles?). It\u2019s unusual for a summer blockbuster to carry an R-rating lately \u2014 studios typically try to have their action-heavy adventures earn PG-13 or PG ratings so they can play to the broadest audience possible. <\/p>\n<p>\n\tHowever, Nolan\u2019s last film, \u201cOppenheimer,\u201d had an R rating and was released in the heart of summer. It went on to gross nearly $1 billion at the global box office. Other Nolan summer films like \u201cInception,\u201d \u201cDunkirk,\u201d \u201cTenet\u201d and the \u201cDark Knight\u201d trilogy all received PG-13 ratings. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/relocationobserver.com\/?p=1347\">Globoplay Original Series \u2018The Playoffs\u2019 Premieres at SXSW London, Created by and Starring Brazilian Powerhouse Cau\u00e3 Reymond<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tUniversal, which partnered with Nolan on \u201cOppenheimer,\u201d is distributing \u201cThe Odyssey.\u201d It opens on July 17 \u2014 a summer stretch where many of the directors other films have found success. \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d reportedly carries a budget of 250 million, so it will need to bring in crowds. It ranks as perhaps the most expensive R-rated movie in history, topping the likes of \u201cJoker: Folie \u00e0 Deux\u201d and \u201cDeadpool &amp; Wolverine.\u201d In addition to Nolan, one of the biggest names in movies, the cast includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson and Anne Hathaway. <\/p>\n<p>\n\tExhibitors believe \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d will be one of the summer\u2019s biggest films. Tickets for\u00a0IMAX 70\u00a0mm screenings\u00a0went on sale last year and quickly sold out.
