\n\tJessie and her owner are reunited, in the apparent scenario laid out in Taylor Swift\u2018s new \u201cToy Story 5\u201d song, \u201cI Knew It, I Knew You,\u201d which debuted on digital services Thursday night.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso reunited (and it feels so good): Taylor Swift and country music \u2014 as promised by Disney when they first helped Swift announce the new tune Monday.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe song is sprightly and upbeat, and might even count as joyous. It seems likely to serve a similar function in \u201cToy Story 5\u201d as another tune, \u201cWhen She Loved Me,\u201d served all the way back in \u201cToy Story 2,\u201d as far as an anthem destined to play over a montage involving Jessie. But whereas that was a mournful song of separation between human and cowgirl toy, \u201cI Knew It, I Knew You\u201d has the opposite tone, finding ecstasy in a rematch that was made to be.<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd yes, it has one of Swift\u2019s patented bridges, in case anyone was worried she would go the way of TikTok economy and leave that out.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe track is co-produced and co-written by Swift and Jack Antonoff, who is making his return to that chair for the first time since \u201cThe Tortured Poets Department.\u201d Although Antonoff didn\u2019t start working with her until she had largely set her original genre aside, they did work together on the country-leaning song \u201cBetty\u201d from her 2020 \u201cFolklore\u201d album (also co-produced by Aaron Dessner), so this is not entirely unfamiliar territory for them as collaborators.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe lyrics have a much more certain outcome for the reappearance of a loved one on a porch than the tentative ones of \u201cBetty\u201d did:<\/p>\n
