\nApple said it has rebuilt the Siri personal assistant from the ground up with artificial intelligence at its core \u2014 in a forthcoming version called Siri AI.<\/p>\n

\n\tSiri AI was part of the announcements at Monday\u2019s kickoff to its 2026 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), taking place at its Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, California.<\/p>\n

\n\tSiri AI will have a more personalized voice experience, according to Apple, that will sound more natural than the traditional Siri synthetic voice. Users will be able to adjust the pace, expressivity and accent of Siri AI\u2019s conversational experience. The new Siri AI will be able to access and interact with all the apps and data on a user\u2019s iPhone, but with strong privacy controls, said Craig Federighi, Apple\u2019s senior vice president of software engineering.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAI is incredibly powerful technology,\u201d Federighi said. \u201cStill, some appear to be racing forward\u201d to develop \u201cAI for the sake of AI\u201d without regard for the humans using the technology.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe next generation of Apple Intelligence will unlock a \u201cbrand-new Siri,\u201d Federighi said.<\/p>\n

\n\tApple is using Google\u2019s Gemini\u00a0AI model to power the AI-boosted Siri. This past January, Apple and Google announced a multiyear pact under which Google\u2019s AI \u201cwill help power future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized Siri coming this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe iPhone camera will get a new \u201cSiri AI mode\u201d to be able to take action on what\u2019s in the field of vision \u2014 for example, you can point it to a plate of food to get an estimate of the nutritional info.<\/p>\n

\n\tSiri AI will initially be available in English, later expanding to other languages.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs per Apple\u2019s tradition, CEO Tim Cook opened the WWDC keynote, in what is one of his last public appearances as chief executive: In September, he\u2019s set to step aside to become executive chairman and John Ternus, senior VP of hardware engineering, will become Apple\u2019s next CEO.<\/p>\n
