It was meant to be a fun celebration of its first 20 years, connected with the \u201cSpotify 20: Your Party of the Year(s)\u201d\u00a0mobile-only in-app experience that provides look back at your music listening history.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tBut Spotify appears to not have expected the intense reaction from many of its users about the sudden appearance of the disco ball \u2014 with many slamming it as a visual abomination.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cThe person who designed this logo should be fired,\u201d one user on X posted with a screenshot of the Spotify disco ball. The official Spotify account responded on Sunday (May 17), saying: \u201cWe know glitter is not for everyone. Our temp glow up ends soon. He added: \u201cA kinda dumb mistake.\u201d To that, Spotify said, \u201cIt\u2019s our birthday so we\u2019re in our party gear, but we\u2019ll be back to normal when the lights go down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tBy the way, not everyone hates the Spotify disco ball. Michael J. Miraflor, global EVP of client services and strategic planning at WPP\u2019s EssenceMediacom, commented on X about the brouhaha: \u201cLook what you\u2019ve done, dorks. You\u2019ve bullied Spotify into reversing something fun and different (and temporary to begin with) for their 20th Anniversary.
