\n\tLionsgate\u2019s \u201cMichael\u201d earned $7 million domestic on Friday and is expected to add an impressive $25 million to $28 million by Sunday. That represents about a 27% drop from last weekend\u2019s earnings. The biopic about the life and times of the King of Pop has exhibited excellent staying power since its record-setting $97 million debut. By the end of its fourth weekend, it\u2019s expected to collect around $283 million in North America.<\/p>\n

\n\tFocus Features\u2019 horror newcomer \u201cObsession\u201d took second with $6.89 million domestic on its opening day from 2,615 theaters. Through the weekend, it\u2019s expected to earn a solid $14.5 million. From writer-director Curry Barker, \u201cObsession\u201d follows a desperate young man who uses a \u201cOne Wish Willow\u201d to make his crush fall madly in love with him. He gets exactly what he wants, but his deepest desires come with a deadly price. Cast members include Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, Andy Richter and Haley Fitzgerald.<\/p>\n

\n\t20th Century Studios\u2019 \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada 2\u201d landed at No. 3 with $5.3 million on its third Friday in North American theaters. By Sunday, the high-fashion sequel starring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt should gross around $20 million, pushing the film\u2019s total domestic earnings to $177 million through three weekends of release. Factoring in international grosses, \u201cPrada 2\u201d officially crossed the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office on Friday.<\/p>\n

\n\tWarner Bros. and New Line\u2019s \u201cMortal Kombat II\u201d fell to fourth in its sophomore Friday with $3.7 million domestic. That represents a hefty 79% drop from its opening day. Through the weekend, the bloody, beat-\u2019em-up actioner should pull in about $12.7 million, which would bring its North American tally to around $61 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tFifth place went to Amazon MGM\u2019s \u201cThe Sheep Detectives,\u201d which added $2.45 million domestic on Friday. Through its second Sunday in theaters, the family-friendly whodunnit should collect $10 million, pushing its North American tally to $30 million.<\/p>\n
