\n\tAt an intimate FYC event in New York on Tuesday, the hosts of \u201cThe Daily Show\u201d got to comparing POTUS\u2019 universe to the MCU. That makes Jordan Klepper, who often interviews (and humiliates) Trump fans outside rallies and conventions, a recurring villain.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m not the good guy in that universe, but I\u2019m a part of it,\u201d said Klepper, adding that \u201cMAGA heads\u201d often recognize him and ask for photos at Republican events. \u201cI\u2019m the heel, and they want to fight with me, they want to yell at me and they want to take selfies with me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nJon Stewart then extended the analogy. \u201cBy attaching [MAGA] to the MCU, that feels like it\u2019s going to be non-transferable. Once they lose Iron Man\u201d \u2014 in this case, Trump \u2014 \u201cthey can try and throw him back in there as Dr. Doom or some other fucking thing,\u201d he said, referencing Robert Downey Jr.\u2019s return to the franchise after Iron Man\u2019s death in \u201cAvengers: Endgame.\u201d \u201cBut do you think that audience is going to buy somebody else running that universe?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBased on Klepper\u2019s expertise, the answer is no. \u201cIt is personality-based through and through,\u201d he said, implying that the MAGA movement may not survive after Trump\u2019s presidency.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe entirety of the political punditry that talk about [how] the inheritor of the movement is going to be [Marco] Rubio or it\u2019s going to be [JD] Vance,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cActually no, it\u2019s either going to be somebody with the Trump name and it\u2019s a family heirloom that\u2019s passed down, or whoever is the next leader of the Republican party will be inheriting an entirely different machine.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStewart and Klepper were joined by their \u201cDaily Show\u201d deskmates Ronny Chieng, Desi Lydic, Michael Kosta and Josh Johnson for a panel at the Metrograph. The event was designed to raise awareness of the Comedy Central talk series\u2019 campaign for Emmys. \u201cThe Daily Show\u201d has won dozens of Emmys since Stewart took over as host in 1999; and it\u2019s won two trophies since he returned as a part-time host in 2024.<\/p>\n
