\n\tLondon-based sales, production and distribution company Dogwoof has closed a raft of international deals on Sundance prizewinning documentary \u201cBirds of War,\u201d which has been lined up for an Oscar-qualifying theatrical run in the U.S. as Dogwoof launches the film\u2019s trailer ahead of its U.K. premiere at Sheffield DocFest. <\/p>\n

\n\tDogwoof revealed Thursday it has secured international deals with Australia and New Zealand (Madman Distribution), Spain and Portugal (Filmin), Belgium (VRT), Poland (Against Gravity), and Canada (Kinosmith). The film will receive an Oscar-qualifying theatrical run in the U.S. this autumn via 8 Above Films. It will be released in U.K. and Irish theaters by Dogwoof on July 3.<\/p>\n

\n\tDirected and produced by journalist and filmmaker Janay Boulos and activist and cameraman Abd Alkader Habak, \u201cBirds of War\u201d is a \u201cdeeply intimate documentary that reframes one of the defining conflicts of our time through an extraordinary real-life love story,\u201d Dogwoof said. \u201cPreserved through the power of their own archive material, their story is told through voice notes, texts and video diaries, as the film unfolds in real time, offering a rare and deeply human perspective on war as it is lived and recorded.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film received its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, where it won the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award for Journalistic Impact and has since picked up major international prize wins, including the Audience Award at Visions du Reel, and a record four awards at Thessaloniki, plus the Grand Jury prize at Seattle Intl. Film Festival.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is produced by Sonja Henrici (\u201cMerkel,\u201d \u201cThe Oil Machine\u201d), and is supported by Screen Scotland.<\/p>\n
