The action thriller, written by \u201cNarcos\u201d and \u201cGriselda\u201d co-creator Carlo Bernard and adapted from Victor Gischler\u2019s novel, was shot in May 2025 in Mississippi.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe ensemble cast includes Duke Nicholson (grandson of Jack Nicholson), William H. Macy, Stephen Dorff and Julia Fox. Haddish also serves as an executive producer.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tHer second project, \u201cThe Girl in the River,\u201d is similarly rooted in Mississippi, with production spanning Canton, Jackson and Vicksburg in August 2025. But she also acknowledges the tension of the moment. \u201cWe\u2019re living in a psycho thriller. And we\u2019d much rather be watching the psycho thriller.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAt one point in the interview, she shifts from humor to emotion, becoming visibly tearful while reflecting on how her personal history has shaped her work.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cA journey with no drama is not a journey at all,\u201d she says. \u201cI\u2019m glad that I\u2019ve hit speed bumps.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIt\u2019s a philosophy that doubles as a quiet pitch to studios: Haddish\u2019s comedic identity isn\u2019t going anywhere, but her dramatic work is now aligning with material built to meet it.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tBefore the conversation ends, she offers one more ambition\u2014delivered with her signature mix of sincerity and playfulness.
