\n\tRising British actor Matthew Broome, the star of Apple TV\u2019s \u201cThe Buccaneers\u201d and the \u201cMy Fault: London\u201d franchise on Prime Video, doesn\u2019t know where his next job is coming from but says, \u201cI would love to audition\u201d for the next James Bond movie.<\/p>\n

\n\tBroome will receive the International Golden Nymph for Most Promising Talent at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival on Tuesday. \u201cThis is my first award ever in my career and it\u2019s unbelievable to me that there are people out there recognizing me for my work,\u201d he says, beaming.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpeaking ahead of the awards ceremony, he adds: \u201cIt shows that I\u2019m going in the direction that I want to and it\u2019s going to hopefully open more doors for me and for my career in the future. It\u2019s truly an honor.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYour Fault: London,\u201d the second film in the popular franchise, drops this week and continues the turbulent romantic saga of American teenager Noah (Asha Banks) and her \u201cbad boy\u201d stepbrother Nick (Broome). Did the success of the first installment take him by surprise? \u201cYes, because with streamers there\u2019s so much that gets made now and things can get lost in the ether.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe trilogy, whose final installment \u201cOur Fault: London\u201d in in post, is based on the hugely successful Spanish-language versions that preceded it, which in turn were drawn from Mercedes Ron\u2019s YA novels. \u201cSo, we already had a fan base,\u201d Matthew says. \u201cI wasn\u2019t too familiar with the success of the films and the books, but when Asha was explaining it to me it started to really sink in and I was like \u2018We\u2019re not sending it out into nothing\u2019.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBut it was a bit daunting because not everyone was too pleased that we were making an English version already [the first Spanish film came out in 2023], which was understandable. I remember when we were first announced and it didn\u2019t land the most positively because we\u2019d done such a quick turnaround to do an English version of something that was already so loved. There was definitely a lot of pressure once that first film came out, and when it did and it was so well received we were just like \u2018We did it!’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBroome doesn\u2019t know where his next job is coming from, \u201cand that\u2019s exciting, well, exciting and terrifying.\u201d As a young British actor has he been asked to audition for the next James Bond movie? Matthew laughs. \u201cNo, I haven\u2019t, but I would love to. Who wouldn\u2019t? But no, I haven\u2019t auditioned for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd with the second and third films done back-to-back, is he done with the \u201cFault\u201d franchise? \u201cWell at the moment, we are done, but you never know. I mean, Mercedes has written a fourth book, and you never know what\u2019s going to happen in the future. Never say never.\u201d<\/p>\n
