\nLukas Gage is getting into politics.<\/p>\n

\n\tNot really, but he\u2019s playing on aspiring politician on TV.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actor is starring in Hulu\u2019s upcoming \u201cPrison Break\u201d as a politician running for the first time for Congress. He tells me he prepared for the role by primarily studying former West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin.\n\n\n\n<\/p>

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve watched Joe Manchin, who was running for Congress in West Virginia forever,\u201d Gage told me at the premiere of his new movie, \u201cVoicemails for Isabelle,\u201d on Tuesday at Netflix\u2019s Tudum Theater in Hollywood. \u201cHe\u2019s been like the template of who I\u2019ve been watching, but a lot of people that I admire, like Obama \u2014 not as much Spencer Pratt \u2014 more Obama vibes.\u201d\n\n\t\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAs Variety<\/em> previously reported, the lead cast also includes Emily Browning and Drake Rodger. The pilot is set in the same world as the original \u201cPrison Break,\u201d which aired on Fox from 2005-2009, but will tell a new story with new characters.<\/p>\n

\n\tElgin James is writing and executive producing the reboot pilot, with Dawn Olmstead, \u201cPrison Break\u201d creator Paul Scheuring, Marty Adelstein and Neal Moritz also executive producing.<\/p>

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s gritty and it\u2019s dark and it\u2019s scary,\u201d Gage said, adding, \u201cWe definitely pay homage to the old series, but it\u2019s a very new take on it, and Elgin has such a personal connection to the story and a personal take on it that is very different. So it\u2019s a right balance of not trying to recreate the magic of what was the original show, but it\u2019s on Hulu, too. It\u2019s not Fox, so we can get really gritty on this one.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn \u201cVoicemails to Isabelle,\u201d Zoey Deutch stars as a culinary school student who faces her sister\u2019s death by leaving her voicemail messages about her daily life when she starts falling in love with her seemingly too-good-to-be-true boyfriend (Nick Robinson). Gage plays a fellow student with a neck tattoo, pompadour and mustache. \u201cThe pompadour was really important to me,\u201d Gage said. \u201cThat\u2019s all my hair. That\u2019s my hair on my head, but not on my face [because] I can\u2019t grow a mustache.\u201d<\/p>
