\n\tA series adaptation of Andrew Mayne\u2019s \u201cThe Naturalist\u201d book series is in active development at ABC.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe series is described as a procedural that follows a \u201cbrilliant but socially estranged biologist who uses the laws of animal behavior to hunt human predators.\u201d The twist is that the protagonist has his own dark secrets, and he turns every case into a study of himself.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe project will be written by Andrew Karlsruher (\u201cMacGyver,\u201d \u201cCSI: Cyber\u201d), with Veritas Entertainment\u2019s Peter Jaysen and Alan Gasmer executive producing alongside Danny Cannon (who directed the original \u201cCSI\u201d pilot).<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Naturalist\u201d book series \u2014 which includes the first novel published in 2017 and sequels \u201cLooking Glass\u201d (2018), \u201cMurder Theory\u201d (2019) and \u201cDark Pattern\u201d (2019) \u2014 is an Amazon Charts bestseller, and the first installment was nominated for an International Thriller Writers Award for best original paperback novel in 2019.<\/p>\n

\n\tMayne is also the author of \u201cThe Girl Beneath the Sea\u201d and \u201cAngel Killer,\u201d and his new book \u201cThe Session\u201d will be published in October. He\u2019s represented by Erica Spellman Silverman at Trident Media Group and Pooneh Aminian at TroyGould.<\/p>\n

\n\tKarlsruher co-wrote the pilot \u201cDo Harm\u201d for the Onyx Collective, and he was a producer on CBS\u2019 \u201cBull.\u201d He is currently the head of character for the robotics company Familiar Machines & Magic. He\u2019s repped by Gersh, Writ Large, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.<\/p>\n

\n\tCannon has directed and executive produced 18 pilots, including for the \u201cCSI\u201d franchise, \u201cNikita,\u201d \u201cGotham\u201d and \u201cPennyworth.\u201d He\u2019s represented by MGMT Entertainment and Innovative Artists.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Naturalist\u201d hails from Veritas Entertainment, the media and entertainment company founded by Jaysen and Gasmer. The production house, known for optioning IP and developing it into Hollywood projects, is behind the Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet Bob Dylan biopic \u201cA Complete Unknown,\u201d as well as \u201cVikings,\u201d \u201cDublin Murders,\u201d \u201cFahrenheit 451\u201d and more.<\/p>\n
