\nOlivia Wilde recently told the \u201cCall Her Daddy\u201d podcast that Pamela Anderson helped her through the release of her 2022 film \u201cDon\u2019t Worry Darling,\u201d which was plagued with rumors of disarray in the director\u2019s personal and professional life.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI actually learned this from \u2014 this sounds so crazy,\u201d Wilde said. \u201cBut after I saw the documentary [\u2018Pamela, A Love Story\u2019] I reached out to her, and I was like, \u2018Yo, respect. Just want to say big fan.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWilde remembered that Anderson was \u201caware of some of the shit that I was going through,\u201d and told her in the face of public scrutiny, \u201cThe most rebellious thing you can do is stay soft. Don\u2019t let it harden you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAnderson, who had her own fair share of scandals throughout her career, was, in some ways, able to reclaim her narrative through the release of Netflix\u2019s \u201cPamela, A Love Story.\u201d It hit the streamer about four months after \u201cDon\u2019t Worry Darling\u201d came to theaters.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt was so hard, because I wanted to be like, \u2018Can I just talk to people? Can I just go and say, \u2018That\u2019s not true! That\u2019s not true!\u2019\u201d Wilde recalled. \u201cAnd it was like, \u2018No, that won\u2019t help.\u2019 And that was really hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWilde said staying quiet was especially difficult because she wanted to promote the film on behalf of her cast and crew.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was like, \u2018It\u2019s not about me. It\u2019s about this movie that everyone works so hard to make,\u2019\u201d Wilde explained. \u201cAnd I felt like I was working on behalf of hundreds of people who had worked through Covid to make something really difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI felt frustrated that I couldn\u2019t defend myself, but it also felt like, \u2018Okay, it\u2019s not about you. Just get the movie out,\u2019\u201d she added. \u201cAnd the pummeling that I took was so insanely disproportionate.\u201d<\/p>\n
