With an early look at\u00a0Sirfetch\u2019d\u00a0and Pichu in action,\u00a0exquisite claymation and cutting-edge special effects brought forth by Aardman for this specific project, the series (coming up next year) delighted Bonlieu\u2019s crowds, eager to know more.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSet in\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon\u2019s \u00a0\u201cGalar\u201d\u00a0region,\u00a0which\u00a0shares many geographical similarities with the real-world U.K.\u00a0(a fitting backdrop for a collaboration with Aardman), the panel also touched the project\u2019s\u00a0distinctly British sense of humor, with Gromit\u2019s signature move even making its way in the Pok\u00e9mon world. which is\u00a0long associated with many of Aardman\u2019s best-loved productions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s an\u00a0honor\u00a0to take part in Aardman\u2019s panel at Annecy and\u00a0talk about the\u00a0shared commitment to quality, strong storytelling, memorable characters and\u00a0a genuine\u00a0respect\u00a0for audiences and fans,\u201d\u00a0said Phil Rynda, director of original animation at The Pok\u00e9mon Company International.\u00a0\u201cThis project gives us a unique opportunity to tell stories from the point of view of Pok\u00e9mon,\u00a0made possible by\u00a0Aardman\u2019s\u00a0extraordinary craft, remarkable artistry.\u00a0Their\u00a0warmth, and affection for this much-loved Pok\u00e9mon cast are\u00a0evident\u00a0in every brilliantly crafted frame.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSarah Cox, chief creative director at Aardman added:\u00a0\u201cAardman teams are delighted to bring the vivid physicality of stop frame animation into the Pok\u00e9mon world. Director Tom Parkinson and his team have created a hand-crafted spin on the wonderful Pok\u00e9mon we all know and love, with comedic storytelling that celebrates the quirks,\u00a0eccentricities\u00a0and charms of our heroes\u00a0as they explore\u00a0Galar\u00a0on a delightfully offbeat Quest.\u00a0Aardman and Pok\u00e9mon\u202fshare a strong\u00a0commitment to creativity and talent\u202fon this\u00a0shared quest of our own to bring joy to\u00a0audiences across the world.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tBeyond that presentation, Sarah Cox also announced a newly commissioned stop-motion and 2D animated series, \u201cLet\u2019s Go Timmy!\u201d, expanding the wonderful world of Mossy Bottom, which will also be back in theaters later this year with the third installment of \u201cShaun the Sheep\u201d features, \u201cThe Beast of Mossy Bottom,\u201d set for a global release in September.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIn \u201cLet\u2019s Go Timmy!,\u201d Bitzer the sheep dog is tasked with getting Timmy and his two best friends, Yabba and Apricot, to Mossy Bottom School safe and on time each morning! Like all excitable children Timmy and the gang are curious, full of energy, and every morning turns into a surrealist escapade as they veer off-course turning the school run into an adventure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFor this project, Aardman blends two distinct animation styles: its signature stop-motion animation combined with dynamic 2D animation, which serves to highlight the fantastical worlds of Timmy\u2019s, Yabba\u2019s and Apricot\u2019s imagination. It is a joyful, visually rich addition that reflects CBeebies\u2019 hallmark: high-quality, homegrown storytelling that is both engaging and supports early years development. The series captures the humour, warmth and boundless imagination that defines Aardman\u2019s storytelling, while introducing a playful new dynamic with Bitzer at the helm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tCox also revealed another new Aardman production, \u201cThe Almost (Untold) Story Of Danger Delilah,\u201d adapted from\u00a0book series \u201cOnce Upon the Alphabet\u201d by Oliver Jeffers.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAardman director \u00c5sa Lukander (Coldplay\u2019s \u201cDaddy,\u201d \u201cBlue Peter\u201d), senior development executive James Higginson and Peter Lord himself are all involved in bringing this project to the screen, creating \u201ca whole new story\u201d from the book and its characters.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cThe script is by Pete,\u201d added Cox. \u201cIt\u2019s about Danger Delilah, a girl who realises her world\u2019s starting to disappear, before understanding that she is herself a character in someone else\u2019s story that they\u2019re forgetting about\u2026\u201d In order to save herself, Delilah has to seize her own narrative, and rewrite her own story. \u201cSo she has to literally seize the narrative and rewrite her own story.\u201d We\u2019ve just finished a phase of development, so we\u2019ll be ready to start pitching it soon,\u201d concluded Cox.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAhead of the announcements, Aardman\u2019s legendary trio Peter Lord, David Sproxton and Nick Park dove into the studio\u2019s history for a special opening session celebrating Aardman\u2019s unique approach to storytelling, comedy and craft, the veteran animators were followed on stage by Cox, who also brought \u201cRobin Robin,\u201d \u201cOver the Garden Wall\u201d co-director Dan Ojari on stage to present his latest Aardman success stories, completing an in-depth look back at the 50-plus years of Aardman signature animation history.<\/p>\n<p>From early kitchen table experiments to iconic characters and award-winning productions, the team shared how their distinctive, handmade process has evolved over the years.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPeter Lord and David Sproxton, who were recently knighted in the King\u2019s Birthday Honors, began their animating partnership at school, and while still teenagers created a short animated sketch called \u201cAardman\u201d which the BBC bought for its Vision On series. According to Aardman, on receipt of their first cheque from the BBC, Peter and David needed a name for their bank account so in 1972 they registered the name Aardman Animations.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThrough a combination of archival material, behind-the-scenes footage and conversation, the session offered insight into how Aardman continues to create award-winning animation that connects with audiences around the world, as well as what lies ahead for the studio as it evolves its craft to embrace the future of stop-motion animation and beyond. <\/p>\n<p>\n\tAfter more than 25 years teaching their unique craft, Aardman also announced a brand-new Master of Fine Arts (MFA) at London\u2019s Royal College of Art, starting soon. The teams presented the collaboration through a quirky, hand-crafted teaser, a testament to what has and always will be at the heart of Aardman DNA: people, and the love for the animated craft.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOr, as Aardman co-founder and director Peter Lord had it: \u201cOur animation might be \u2018old school,\u2019 but we do it for the love of the craft. Our teams are so good at their jobs, and this love shines on the screen.
