\nMoshe Kasher has been diagnosed with tonsil cancer, the comedian revealed on Instagram.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThree months ago \u2026 I found a bump on my tonsil,\u201d Kasher posted on Sunday. \u201cIt was cancer, which did not rule so hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKasher, a stand-up comic who recently appeared in \u201cThe Pitt,\u201d was in Savannah, Georgia, at the time, working on the new Judd Apatow and Glen Powell movie \u201cThe Comeback King.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Friday, Kasher underwent a procedure in Los Angeles, joking that \u201ca Jewish surgery robot at Cedars Sinai yanked my jaw open for five hours and cut it out and then slit my throat and dissected my neck, leaving me with a hardcore neck scar which will make people reluctant to street fight me.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tKasher said his tongue was \u201cclamped and yanked\u201d out of his mouth. It\u2019s \u201cso swollen and bruised, I sound like \u2018I Am Sam,’\u201d he said, referencing the Sean Penn character.<\/p>\n

\n\tAttaching photos of himself in the hospital, Kasher wrote, \u201cThis has been the most terrifying and consciousness consuming experience of my life. My life has been terror, meditation, tears, and medical planning (oh and 12 hour days on set pitching jokes).\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe added, \u201cI truly cannot believe I managed to work an entire movie while dealing with this, but Judd could not have been a more kind, supportive, and nurturing friend all while on the verge of a five hour energy overdose from his terrifying habit.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKasher said while \u201cI am in pain,\u201d the \u201cgood news is the cancer I have has an incredibly high cure rate (in the 95% zone).\u201d He is waiting to hear whether he needs radiation, \u201cbut regardless I will be okay and back to being a cool dude ASAP,\u201d Kasher wrote.<\/p>\n

\n\tJoking that the \u201cgood news\u201d is that he was diagnosed with the type of \u201ccancer you get from sex,\u201d Kasher encouraged his followers to get checked and to vaccinate their kids, writing, \u201cHPV positive toncil cancer is an epidemic in men under 55.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKasher said he is unsure when he will return to live comedy, but he and his wife, fellow comic Natasha Leggero, recorded an episode of their \u201cEndless Honeymoon Podcast\u201d right before his surgery. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThanks to Natasha and all of my wonderful friends who have been so supportive,\u201d Kasher concluded. \u201cI woke up on that operating table so flooded with emotions and gratitude for my life and the gift of consciousness. I can\u2019t wait to go back to work. but for now \u2014 I breathe. I walk. I eat. I survive. I live.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tKasher is a comedian known for his observational black comedy and crowd work, and he wrote about his fascinating upbringing as a Hasidic Jew with deaf parents, who then struggled with drug addiction as a teenager, in his memoirs \u201cKasher in the Rye\u201d and \u201cSubculture Vulture.\u201d In an homage to his own work as a sign-language interpreter, he appeared in Season 2 of \u201cThe Pitt\u201d as an ASL translator. <\/p>\n
