\n\tThe first trailer for Taika Waititi\u2019s dystopian sci-fi film \u201cKlara and the Sun,\u201d featuring stars Jenna Ortega, Amy Adams and Natasha Lyonne, has been released. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is based on the eponymous New York Times bestseller by Kazuo Ishiguro and follows the story of Klara (Ortega), a robot designed to prevent loneliness. A mother (Adams) buys the robot for her daughter Josie (Mia Tharia), a girl who suffers from a mysterious illness. <\/p>\n

\n\tAran Murphy (\u201cOppenheimer\u201d star Cillian Murphy\u2019s son) and Steve Buscemi round out the cast of the film.<\/p>\n

\n\tSony\u2019s 3000 Pictures acquired the screen rights to Ishiguro\u2019s novel in July 2020, with Dahvi Waller being announced to pen the screenplay in March 2021. Ishiguro serves as an executive producer.<\/p>\n

\n\tHeyday Films\u2019 David Heyman, Garrett Basch and Waititi served as producers for the film. Elizabeth Gabler and Aislinn Dunster are overseeing for project for Sony\u2019s 3000 Pictures.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe novel, set in a near-future U.S., is told from the point of view of Klara, who is a solar-powered Artificial Friend. Another of Ishiguro\u2019s novels, \u201cNever Let Me Go,\u201d was adapted into a 2010 movie starring Carey Mulligan, Andrew Garfield, Keira Knightley and Ella Purnell.<\/p>\n

\n\tOrtega\u2019s recent film credits include in the A24 dark comedy \u201cDeath of a Unicorn\u201d alongside Paul Rudd, The Weeknd\u2019s \u201cHurry Up Tomorrow\u201d and Sundance premiere \u201cThe Gallerist\u201d with Natalie Portman. The second season of her Netflix hit \u201cWednesday\u201d premiered last year, and Season 3 is in the works.<\/p>\n
