The first four-episode chapter launched from the 2025 Venice Film Festival before dropping on the streaming giant, where it rapidly rose to the top of Netflix\u2019s global non-English-language shows chart.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/relocationobserver.com\/?p=3037\">Alexis Alexiou Completes Third Feature \u2018Sea of Glass,\u2019 Unveils First Look and Trailer (EXCLUSIVE)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tShooting is underway on what is being described as \u201ca new chapter in Italy\u2019s most famous true crime case\u201d that \u201cwill revisit the Monster of Florence investigation through a new lens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe true crime show\u2019s title is the moniker given to the alleged serial killer, who committed eight double murders over the course of 17 years from the late 1960s to the mid-\u201980s, preying on couples parked in cars in secluded places around Florence. \u201cThe Monster of Florence\u201d always used the same weapon: a .22 caliber Beretta.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe first \u201cMonster of Florence\u201d season delved into the initial line of police investigation, known as the \u201cSardinian lead,\u201d with each of the show\u2019s four episodes telling the story of a man who, at one point in time, investigators believed was the killer. This new chapter now expands the narrative surrounding the Monster of Florence case by focusing on the so-called \u201cSnack Buddies\u201d lead. In particular, it focuses on the figure of Pietro Pacciani, a Tuscan farm worker who was convicted in 1994 for seven of the eight double murders. His conviction was overturned on appeal in 1996, and he then died in 1998 before his retrial. Pacciani is described in the statement as \u201cfigure as scrutinized by the media as he was shrouded in mystery\u201d in what remains one of the longest-running and most controversial criminal investigations in Italian history.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cWe always imagined \u2018The Monster of Florence\u2019 as an anthology series: standalone stories, each dedicated to one of the different suspects in the series of crimes that shocked Tuscany and Italy between the 1970s and 1980s, in what has gone down in history as the \u2018Monster of Florence\u2019 murders,\u201d Sollima said in the statement, noting that the investigation lasted over 30 years.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/relocationobserver.com\/?p=3035\">Ann Blyth, Who Played Joan Crawford\u2019s Daughter in \u2018Mildred Pierce,\u2019 Dies at 98<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cAfter focusing on the Sardinian suspects, this time we leap forward in time to address perhaps the most well-known, controversial, and debated chapter of the entire incident: the story of Pietro Pacciani, convicted and later acquitted of the crimes, and his alleged accomplices, the infamous \u2018Snack Buddies,\u2019 as the press dubbed them,\u201d he added. It\u2019s a court case that divided Italian public opinion for decades, Sollima went on to point out. \u201cPerhaps this is also why Pacciani\u2019s case remains the most disturbing: guilt has never been proven, but also never completely ruled out,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe limited series reunited Sollima with writer Leonardo Fasoli and ace Italian cinematographer Paolo Carnera, both of whom Sollima worked with on \u201cGomorrah\u201d and cocaine trafficking drama \u201cZeroZeroZero.\u201d Sollima has also helmed Hollywood movies such as \u201cSicario: Day of the Soldado\u201d and \u201cWithout Remorse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe new chapter in \u201cThe Monster of Florence\u201d saga is being produced by Wildside, a Fremantle company, and Sollima\u2019s AlterEgo production shingle.
