\nBlumhouse Atomic Monster has tapped Gary Dauberman to write the script for the next installment of \u201cFive Nights at Freddy\u2019s.\u201d Dauberman has penned some of the most successful horror franchises of the past decade including \u201cIt,\u201d \u201cAnnabelle\u201d and \u201cThe Nun.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe two previous\u00a0\u201cFive Nights at Freddy\u2019s\u201d\u00a0films were major box office hits, with the 2023 original grossing $297.2 million globally on a $20 million budget and its 2025 sequel netting $239.6 million on a $36 million budget. Set in a haunted family friendly, themed restaurant, the movies starred Josh Hutcherson. It was based on\u00a0a popular horror video game series by\u00a0Scott Cawthon, who co-wrote the script for the first film with Emma Tammi and Seth Cuddeback and wrote the second film by himself. <\/p>\n

\n\tDespite their financial success, neither \u201cFive Nights at Freddy\u2019s\u201d film was embraced by critics. Given Dauberman\u2019s pedigree, he could improve the quality of the next entry in the valuable series, potentially leading to reviews that are a little less grisly. <\/p>\n

\n\tBlumhouse Atomic Monster has had a successful year in theaters, releasing \u201cObsession\u201d and \u201cBackrooms,\u201d which are two of the summer\u2019s biggest blockbusters. It marks a return to form for the company, which struggled for much of 2025, releasing underperforming films such as \u201cWolf Man\u201d and \u201cM3GAN 2.0.\u201d\u00a0Blumhouse Atomic Monster did have a modest hit last year with \u201cThe Black Phone 2\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDauberman is represented by WME, Kathleen Remington, Mortimer PR, and Toczek Suddleson. Dread Central broke the news of Dauberman\u2019s hire. <\/p>\n
