\n\tProminent Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larra\u00edn is set to kick off production on his next feature for Netflix, \u201cOnce\u201d (as in the number 11) later this year. The film will follow 11 stories that occurred in the wake of the momentous coup d\u2019\u00e9tat in Chile on September 11, 1973.<\/p>\n

\n\tThrough these intertwined stories, \u201cOnce\u201d follows the 18 consecutive hours following the military coup, ending in the bombing of the official government headquarters,\u00a0La Moneda Palace, and the demise of then president Salvador Allende.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tNoting Netflix\u2019s successful partnership with Larra\u00edn on \u201cThe Count\u201d (\u201cEl Conde\u201d) and\u00a0TV series \u201cMy Sad Dead,\u201d Netflix\u2019s VP of Latin American original content Francisco Ramos said, \u201cWe are committed to Latin America storytelling of the highest caliber and quality. Pablo has assembled an amazing cast and crew, including [DP] Rodrigo Prieto and [Production Designer] Guy Hendrix, and his original screenplay co-written with Guillermo Calder\u00f3n is just extraordinary.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMaria\u201d and \u201cSpencer\u201d director Larra\u00edn has also brought in Oscar-winning VFX supervisor Andrew Jackson, a regular collaborator of Christopher Nolan for the first time. It will also be Larrain\u2019s first collaboration with the multi-Oscar nominated Prieto, who has worked on Martin Scorsese\u2019s \u201cThe Irishman,\u201d \u201cKillers of the Flower Moon,\u201d \u201cSilence\u201d and \u201cThe Wolf of Wall Street.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThanks to the trust and support from Netflix and to the work of truly great artists, I\u2019m now facing a big and wonderful challenge: a war movie,\u201d Larra\u00edn told Variety.<\/em>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tTo be produced by the Larra\u00edn brothers\u2019 Fabula, \u201cOnce\u201d features a stellar cast led by Alfredo Castro, a regular on Larra\u00edn\u2019s films, including \u201cThe Count.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe rest of the players, some of whom have worked on past Fabula productions, includes Marcelo Alonso (\u201cThe Club\u201d), Octavia Bernasconi (\u201cThe Pack\u201d), Roberto Far\u00edas (\u201cThe Club\u201d) Fernanda Finsterbusch (\u201cThe Pack\u201d) Alejandro Goic (\u201cThe Club\u201d) Camila Milenka, (\u201c7 Weeks\u201d) Valentina Muhr, (\u201cAfter the Fog\u201d), Marcial Tagle (\u201cNo\u201d) and Lukas Vergara (\u2018Disconnected\u201d).<\/p>\n

\n\tJoining Larra\u00edn as producers are Fabula\u2019s Juan de Dios Larra\u00edn and Roc\u00edo Jadue. Alejandro Wise and Mariane Hartard serve as executive producers.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis would not be the first time for Larra\u00edn to delve into Chile\u2019s traumatic past, including \u201cNo\u201d and most recently, \u201cThe Count,\u201d in which military dictator Augusto Pinochet is a tortured 250-year-old vampire.<\/p>\n
