\nJosh Peck revealed on the \u201cFinancial Tea with Mrs. Dow Jones\u201d podcast that he and his \u201cDrake and Josh\u201d castmates earned far less from the Nickelodeon series than fans might assume, with take-home pay landing around $125,000 a year over the show\u2019s four-year run.<\/p>\n

\n\tPeck told the podcast\u2019s host that the cast started out making $3,000 an episode on \u201cThe Amanda Show\u201d before moving to \u201cDrake and Josh,\u201d which ran 60 episodes total. By the time the show wrapped, the average per-episode rate had climbed to about $15,000.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSo over four years, we wound up making about $900,000, but I think we probably, between agent, manager, and taxes, we cleared half of that,\u201d Peck said.<\/p>\n

\n\tWith four years of steady work factored in, Peck put the annual take-home figure at roughly $125,000. He noted that the show generated no residuals, a structure he said was standard for kids\u2019 television at the time.<\/p>\n

\n\tPeck said the cast had little leverage in negotiations because Nickelodeon represented essentially the only outlet for young performers working at that level. The host raised the example of the \u201cFriends\u201d cast negotiating collectively, contrasting it with the \u201cGilmore Girls\u201d cast, who she said did not negotiate together and were paid less as a result.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt was a different time and I think it was\u2026 there was only one sort of place to do it, right?\u201d Peck said. He added that he and his peers accepted the arrangement because there was no alternative network, streaming platform or other avenue to take the work elsewhere instead.<\/p>\n

\n\tPeck, who grew up with a single mother and described his family as moving between lower-middle-class and broke, said becoming the household\u2019s primary earner as a teenager shaped a lasting financial anxiety. He said the experience left him fixated on small expenses even after his income grew substantially.<\/p>\n

\n\tHe credited his mother, his accountant and his Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor, Dan, with helping him build long-term financial habits centered on low-cost index fund investing rather than high-risk swings. Peck said he did not purchase a home until his mid-30s, opting instead to maintain a financial cushion in case work became inconsistent.<\/p>\n

\n\tPeck launched his career as a child stand-up comedian in New York before moving into acting, debuting in the film \u201cSnow Day\u201d in 2000 and joining the Nickelodeon sketch series \u201cThe Amanda Show\u201d that same year, where he first worked alongside Drake Bell. He drew critical notice for the 2004 drama \u201cMean Creek,\u201d and went on to voice Eddie in the \u201cIce Age\u201d franchise from 2006 to 2016 and Casey Jones in Nickelodeon\u2019s animated \u201cTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles\u201d from 2012 to 2017. His other credits include \u201cThe Wackness,\u201d \u201cRed Dawn,\u201d the Fox series \u201cGrandfathered\u201d opposite John Stamos, the Disney+ series \u201cTurner & Hooch,\u201d Hulu\u2019s \u201cHow I Met Your Father\u201d and a supporting turn in Christopher Nolan\u2019s \u201cOppenheimer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPeck currently hosts \u201cGood Guy\u2019s Podcast\u201d and continues to take on acting and brand deal work, which he said he selectively turns down to remain available for his family.<\/p>\n
