\n\tThe teaser also offers glimpses of Vincent Lindon as Jean Valjean, the ex-convict who rebuilds his life as a benevolent industrialist, and Tahar Rahim as Inspector Javert, Valjean\u2019s relentless nemesis. The prestigious cast is completed by Camille Cottin (\u201cCall My Agent!\u201d), Benjamin Lavernhe (\u201cThe Marching Band\u201d) and No\u00e9mie Merlant (\u201cLee\u201d), among others.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe footage opens with fortress-like coastal imagery before moving into large-scale period sets, suggesting the film will have the epic scope of Hugo\u2019s story while grounding it in a raw visual language.<\/p>\n

\n\tCavay\u00e9, who\u2019s best known for muscular thrillers such as \u201cAnything for Her\u201d and \u201cPoint Blank,\u201d is bringing a more grounded, visceral sensibility to this new adaptation, emphasizing moral torment and social upheaval, with images of poverty, punishment and revolution. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn interview with Variety<\/em> during the last edition of the Marrakech Film Festival, Tahar Rahim likened this new take on \u201cLes Miserables\u201d to \u201cThe Fugitive.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cLes Mis\u00e9rables\u201d has already presold in major markets around the world, underscoring the enduring global appeal of Hugo\u2019s novel and the international interest surrounding Studiocanal\u2019s prestige production.<\/p>\n

\n\tStudiocanal\u2019s sales team, led by Chlo\u00e9 Marquet, predicted that \u201cLes Mis\u00e9rables\u201d will \u201cbenefit from the very well established audience of the musical while offering a new, realistic interpretation, with a stellar French cast that is attractive for international audiences.\u201d<\/p>\n
