\n\tThe fifth and final season of \u201cPower Book III: Raising Kanan\u201d just introduced the young version of a pivotal character in the \u201cPower\u201d lore. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn this week\u2019s episode, Kanan (Mekai Curtis) and Tiana (Asjha Cooper) are discussing the nature of their relationship, when Tiana tells him he doesn\u2019t even know her real name. Naturally, he asks her what it is. <\/p>\n

\n\tHer real name? Jarita, a.k.a the future mother of Kanan\u2019s son, Shawn, in the mothership series. <\/p>\n

\n\tWith the reveal, Variety<\/em> has learned that Jarita will continue as a guest star in the final season of \u201cRaising Kanan\u201d before she moves on to a series regular role in the upcoming sequel prequel (or prequel sequel) \u201cPower: Origins.\u201d The latter show is currently in production in New Jersey. <\/p>\n

\n\tJarita was previously played by Tasha Smith in Season 2 of \u201cPower,\u201d though the character served only a minor role in that series. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cPower: Origins\u201d delve into the story of young Ghost, Tommy and Kanan as they make their way up the ranks on the streets of New York. Spence Moore will star as Ghost, along with Charlie Mann as Tommy and Zuri Reed as Tasha, alongside Curtis, reprising the role of Kanan. The first season will consist of 18 episodes. <\/p>\n

\n\tAlong with Curtis and Cooper, Season 5 of \u201cRaising Kanan\u201d also stars Patina Miller, Shameik Moore, Leslie Grossman, London Brown, Hailey Kilgore, Wendell Pierce, Erika Woods, Tony Danza, and Joe Pantoliano.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlong with the final season of \u201cRaising Kanan\u201d and \u201cPower: Origins,\u201d Starz is also currently prepping the \u201cPower\u201d sequel series \u201cPower: Legacy,\u201d which will star Joseph Sikora and Michael Rainey Jr.<\/p>\n

\n\tSascha Penn serves as showrunner and executive producer for Season Five of \u201cPower Book III: Raising Kanan\u201d and will showrun and executive-produce \u201cPower: Origins,\u201d from a pilot co-written by Penn and Courtney Kemp. The \u201cPower\u201d Universe series is executive-produced by Kemp, the creator and showrunner of the original \u201cPower,\u201d through her production company, End of Episode. Curtis \u201c50 Cent\u201d Jackson executive produces through G-Unit Film and Television along with Mark Canton, through Canton Entertainment, Chris Selak, Kevin Fox, and Pete Chatmon. Lionsgate Television produces the shows for Starz.<\/p>\n
