\n\tHarlan Coben\u2019s latest Netflix murder mystery series, \u201cI Will Find You,\u201d appears to have captured most everyone\u2019s attention. Just look at the numbers that the streamer has put out there.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs Variety<\/em>\u2019s Jennifer Maas reported on Tuesday, \u201cI Will Find You\u201d had the streamer\u2019s highest second week of viewers for an English-language scripted series launch in 2026, so far. That milestone came after it captured 24 million views (making it Netflix\u2019s top TV show launch of the year) in the first week after its June 18 debut.\n\n\t\n\n\n<\/p>\n

\n\tI\u2019m on a Zoom with star Britt Lower when I tell her that I not only binged the series over one weekend, but I would fight sleep late at night just so I could keep watching.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThat\u2019s what\u2019s so fun about this show. It\u2019s summer and it\u2019s like when you\u2019re a kid and you\u2019re fighting sleep,\u201d Lower says. \u201cWhen else do you get to have that experience of I\u2019m not tired, I\u2019m gonna stay up and I\u2019m gonna keep eating snacks? I\u2019m really thrilled for everyone. I keep getting text messages that people can\u2019t go to sleep, and I\u2019m like, \u2018Well, school is out for the summer.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLower stars in the eight-episode series \u2013 an adaptation of Coben\u2019s novel of the same name \u2014 as Rachel, a Boston Globe journalist who sets out to prove that her ex-brother-in-law David (Sam Worthington) was wrongly convicted and sent to prison for the gruesome murder of his young son Matthew. What unfolds is a prison break, run-ins with Boston mobsters and entanglements with doctors and a seemingly sinister wealthy family. There\u2019s also the father-daughter FBI team (Chi McBride and Logan Browning) who are on the hunt for fugitive David.\n\n\t\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe who-done-it leads up to one of Coben\u2019s signature final twists. In this case, Rachel\u2019s ex-boyfriend, a scion of a wealth family played by Milo Ventimiglia, is revealed to have kidnapped Matthew because he believes he\u2019s the boy\u2019s father.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI read the book before I had read the scripts,\u201d Lower says. \u201cI think we only had maybe three or four of the scripts going into filming, and then we do block shooting, so you do a couple at a time, and then by the time it\u2019s the end, you\u2019ve gotten all the scripts.\u201d<\/p>

\n\tIt\u2019s Rachel who jumpstarts the story when she visits David in prison after noticing a boy who eerily looks like Matthew in the background of a photo that a friend had posted to Facebook.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u00a0\u201cThe [Hayden] twist really is connected to why Rachel has this instinct in the first place and everything just makes more sense,\u201d Lower says. \u201cOh, she had this Spidey sense, and it was connected to this person who was supposed to be like her best friend.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHayden not only violently kills a detective who accuses him of being connected to Matthew\u2019s disappearance but he also fatally shoots his own mother (Madeleine Stowe). \u201cThat\u2019s really good casting because Milo is the total opposite,\u201d Lower says. \u201cHe\u2019s the loveliest most gentle human.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBut another finale twist to consider is when Rachel and David are seen holding hands, leading many viewers \u2013 including myself \u2013 to wonder if a romance had developed between the two.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI loved how quiet that last moment was,\u201d Lower says. \u201cI think it feels so earned based on everything we\u2019ve been through together, and there\u2019s a sense that it\u2019s open-ended where the story takes them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe continues, \u201cThey have this unspoken understanding of what the other person has been through, and that connection felt stronger than any kind of romance could be. They have a shared loneliness and a belief in their family system and a drive to save this boy. There\u2019s really no room for much romance when you think about all that\u2019s going on. But that kind of gentle gesture of support with the hand-hold, I thought that felt appropriate.\u201d<\/p>
