\n\t\u201cThe Pitt\u201d star Noah Wyle recently told the \u201cStill Here Hollywood\u201d podcast that he missed out on roles in \u201cSaving Private Ryan\u201d and \u201cGood Night, and Good Luck\u201d because he couldn\u2019t get out of filming the long-running medical series \u201cER.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen asked if he had any roles that got away, Wyle said, \u201cYeah, tons. Happens all the time. We talked about a couple of them, actually. \u2018Good Night, and Good Luck,\u2019 George [Clooney] offered me a part in that. I couldnt\u2019 get out of \u2018ER\u2019 to do it. I was offered the part of Private Ryan in \u2018Saving Private Ryan,\u2019 couldn\u2019t get out of \u2018ER\u2019 to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWyle added that he was in some ways glad he missed out on those parts, because the people who got them made the best of the opportunity.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI almost am glad that I didn\u2019t do them, because, you know, those guys made those parts,\u201d he said. \u201cMatt Damon was Private Ryan. There were two. I got offered the part of Upham, which was Jeremy Davies\u2019 part, and he was so phenomenal in that I couldn\u2019t imagine doing anything close to what he did.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWyle is currently starring in another hit medical drama, \u201cThe Pitt,\u201d which wrapped up its second season on HBO Max in April. Production on Season 3 began in June and is set to take place on a day in November. \u201cThe Pitt\u201d Season 1 took home five Emmy awards in 2025, including outstanding drama series and lead actor in a drama for Wyle for his role as Dr. Michael \u201cRobby\u201d Robinavitch.<\/p>\n
