\n\tWhen the 78th annual Emmy Award nominations were revealed Wednesday, Fox was among a list of outstanding guest actor in a comedy series candidates that also included Bred Goldstein (another \u201cShrinking\u201d actor), Hamish Linklater (\u201cWidow\u2019s Bay\u201d), Christopher McDonald (\u201cHacks\u201d), Rob Reiner (\u201cThe Bear\u201d) and \u201cHeated Rivalry\u201d star Connor Storrie (for hosting \u201cSNL\u201d).<\/p>\n

\n\tBefore the third season of \u201cShrinking\u201d debuted in late January, Fox said during an interview with the Los Angeles Times that his decision to quit acting in 2020 \u201cwas non-emotional and kind of ok.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tFox was diagnosed with Parkinson\u2019s in 1991 and publicly announced his condition in 1998.\u00a0He was the star of the ABC sitcom \u201cSpin City\u201d at the time, a show he gave up in 2000 during the show\u2019s fourth season because his Parkinson\u2019s symptoms were already making it difficult to be on set. That was the first time Fox retired (the actor has since joked that he\u2019s \u201calways retiring\u201d), although he was ultimately lured back to acting by \u201cSpin City\u201d co-creator Bill Lawrence for \u201cScrubs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI did the show and I loved it and [had] all these great offers for things \u2014 I discovered this new niche, which is do characters that had some kind of flaw and taking my Parksinsonian issues and translate that into cancer on \u2018Boston Legal\u2019 and a form of Parkinsonism on \u2018The Good Wife,’\u201d Fox told the LA Times.<\/p>\n

\n\tLast October, Fox revealed to People he was actually the one who reached out to Lawrence about appearing on \u201cShrinking\u201d: \u201cI said, \u2018You did a show about Parkinson\u2019s, and you didn\u2019t call me?\u2019 And he said, \u2018Oh, you want to do it?\u2019 And I said, \u2018I\u2019d love to do it,\u2019\u201d Fox said. \u201cSo he said, \u2018Let me think about it, see what I can do.\u2019 So he went to work on it and came up with this concept, it\u2019s really good.\u201d<\/p>\n
