Pictures)\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014\u00a0The stomach-churning franchise returns with another\u00a0blood-soaked installment, as a family reunion\u00a0gets grim when everyone starts turning into\u00a0Deadites.\u00a0\u201cInfested\u201d director\u00a0S\u00e9bastien Vani\u010dek helms this chapter, and early footage looks\u00a0appropriately\u00a0wild and,\u00a0dare we say,\u00a0<em>groovy<\/em>?\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><strong>Her Private Hell (In theaters\u00a0July 24 via Neon)\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014\u00a0After\u00a0focusing on television\u00a0for\u00a0nearly a\u00a0decade, Nicolas Winding Refn returns with his first feature since 2016\u2019s \u201cThe Neon Demon.\u201d\u00a0Sophie Thatcher, Charles Melton, Kristine Froseth and Havana Rose Liu star in\u00a0the futuristic serial killer tale, which received\u00a0plenty of hate in mixed-negative reviews at its Cannes debut. But is there anything more exciting than a divisive movie from an audacious\u00a0auteur?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<article>\n<h2>Off the Beaten Path<\/h2>\n<p><!-- do not apply CSS styles to this element! --><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\n<strong>Thingy\u00a0(Debuting on\u00a0Screambox\u00a0on July 21) <\/strong>\u2014\u00a0This mysterious\u00a0Screambox\u00a0original is part of a\u00a0Joe Swanberg package the streamer\u00a0acquired, which makes it an intriguing blind watch.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><strong>Pinocchio Unstrung\u00a0(In theaters July 24 via Viva Pictures)\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014\u00a0The fifth movie in the Twisted Childhood Universe looks a bit more promising than\u00a0the\u00a0previous\u00a0killer\u00a0\u201cWinnie-the-Pooh\u201d films that\u00a0Rhys Frake-Waterfield helmed, but is that enough? Unfortunately, the franchise \u2014\u00a0which also includes\u00a0<em>twisted<\/em>\u00a0stories about\u00a0Peter Pan and Bambi \u2014\u00a0hasn\u2019t\u00a0pushed\u00a0absurd concepts far enough, and the films devolve into\u00a0cheapo\u00a0slashers. But\u00a0maybe having\u00a0the participation of\u00a0horror icons like\u00a0Robert Englund and Richard Brake\u00a0in \u201cUnstrung\u201d\u00a0will amp things up?<br \/><strong>\u00a0<br \/>Nightborn\u00a0(Debuting on Shudder on July 31)\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014\u00a0This parenting nightmare stars\u00a0Seidi Haarla and \u201cHarry Potter\u201d alum Rupert Grint as new parents who\u00a0begin to think something is\u00a0<em>terribly<\/em>\u00a0wrong with their baby. Any more details spoil the spooky mystery, which\u00a0is directed by \u201cHatching\u201d\u00a0helmer\u00a0Hanna Bergholm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<article>\n<h2>Killer Series<\/h2>\n<p><!-- do not apply CSS styles to this element! --><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\n<strong>Human Vapor\u00a0<\/strong>(Now streaming on Netflix) \u2014 The first season of this high-concept\u00a0thriller is about the pursuit of a serial killer who can turn into a gaseous form and\u00a0<em>explode people<\/em>. Gnarly! A true summertime page-turner, this\u00a0novel from the author of\u00a0\u201cRoad of Bones\u201d and \u201cArarat\u201d is tons of fun for fans of things that go bump in the night.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>Fathom Press\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014\u00a0This new-to-me indie publisher\u00a0specializes in reprinting\u00a0rare\u00a0mass market paperbacks that are full of bloody, pulpy goodness.
