\nDisney+ is developing a series version of Stuart Gibbs\u2019 \u201cSpy School\u201d novels, Variety<\/em> has learned. <\/p>\n

\n\tThere are 14 books in the series, beginning with \u201cSpy School\u201d in 2012 and with the 14th book \u2014 \u201cSpy School Goes East\u201d \u2014 set to be published in October 2026. The logline for the series states:<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBen Ripley may only be a teenager, but he\u2019s already pegged his dream job: CIA or bust. Ben is not surprised when he is recruited for a magnet school with a focus on science\u2014but he\u2019s entirely shocked to discover that the school is a front for a CIA academy.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe series is being written by Chris Fedak, who also serves as executive producer. Emma Watts will also executive produce, with Ryan Reynolds\u2018 Maximum Effort (\u201cThe Adam Project,\u201d \u201cWelcome\u202fto Wrexham\u201d) executive producing along with Gibbs. 20th Television, where Maximum Effort is under a first-look deal, is the studio. <\/p>\n

\n\tGibbs\u2019 books have collectively sold more than 12 million copies. In addition to the \u201cSpy School\u201d novels, he has written multiple entries in the series \u201cFunJungle,\u201d \u201cCharlie Thorne,\u201d \u201cMoon Base Alpha,\u201d and \u201cOnce Upon a Tim.\u201d He wrote the screenplays for films including \u201cSee Spot Run,\u201d \u201cReplicate,\u201d and \u201cShowdown\u201d among others. <\/p>\n

\n\tFedak, who is said to be a longtime fan of Gibbs\u2019 work, is best known for co-creating and showrunning the hit NBC series \u201cChuck.\u201d He was also previously the co-creator and showrunner of the Fox drama \u201cProdigal Son\u201d as well as the ABC series \u201cDeception.\u201d In film, he wrote the action film \u201cAmbulance\u201d for director Michael Bay and star Jake Gyllenhaal. <\/p>\n

\n\tFedak is repped by WME and Goodman Genow. Gibbs is repped by CAA and McKuin Frankel Whitehead. Maximum Effort is repped by WME. <\/p>\n

\n\tThis would be the latest YA book-to-series adaptation to find a home at Disney+. The streamer currently airs the \u201cPercy Jackson\u201d series, which is going into its third season, while they are currently prepping a\u00a0live-action \u201cEragon\u201d series and a series version of \u201cAnimorphs.\u201d Previously, Disney+ aired a series based on the R.L. Stine\u2019s\u00a0\u201cGoosebumps\u201d books for two seasons.<\/p>\n
