The deal was unveiled by Neil Friedman, co-founder of ChaiFlicks, and Tobias Schulze, senior VP of Global Sales at Seven.One Studios International.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOriginally commissioned by TVNZ in New Zealand, the semi-autobiographical series follows Lulu (Nathan), an unmarried 29-year-old living with her Jewish family in Auckland, New Zealand \u2013 a country where a national census once famously recorded more Jedis than Jews. Torn between her family\u2019s push to preserve tradition and a secret relationship with her non-Jewish boyfriend, Ollie, Lulu tries to chart her own course between culture and independence.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFriedman said: \u201cSimone Nathan is an extraordinary talent. Her sharp writing, distinctive sense of humor, and authentic portrayal of a young woman navigating a deeply conflicted relationship with herself and her family are truly remarkable. I would describe her voice as a blend of Lena Dunham and Jenny Slate \u2013 smart, fearless, and refreshingly original \u2013 and \u2018Kid Sister\u2019 is a perfect showcase for her exceptional talent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tBefore \u201cKid Sister,\u201d Nathan built a resume in American television \u2013 she held writing and producing credits on HBO Max\u2019s \u201cOur Flag Means Death,\u201d contributed to Comedy Central\u2019s \u201cInside Amy Schumer,\u201d and joined the writers\u2019 room for Netflix\u2019s \u201cBloodline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/relocationobserver.com\/?p=3937\">Netflix in Talks to Buy Letterboxd: Report<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tNathan said, \u201cI\u2019ve always hoped that audiences beyond New Zealand would connect with this series and the story we\u2019re telling. At its core, the show explores the universal pressure many people face from family and society to settle down, regardless of their religion, background, or gender. Because so many elements of my own life are woven into the series, it\u2019s especially meaningful to share it with a broader audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cKid Sister\u201d is produced by Greenstone TV, with Emily Aderton producing and Aidee Walker directing.
