\n\tYes, Caleb McDaniel knows he\u2019s the internet\u2019s boyfriend.<\/p>\n

\n\tCaleb quickly rose to fame on Season 8 of \u201cLove Island USA,\u201d entering the villa with about 10,000 Instagram followers, and now sitting with more than 1 million just one week after leaving the show.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m waiting to wake up from a dream right now. It\u2019s just been overwhelming love,\u201d Caleb tells Variety. <\/em>\u201cThe fact that there is very little hate, and the only thing people really have to say about me is I\u2019m boring? It\u2019s been great.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEntering at the end of the sixth episode, Caleb arrived as a bombshell alongside Jennifer \u201cJen\u201d Terry and Sol Dean. America voted to couple Caleb up with Mackenzie \u201cKenzie\u201d Annis, who he was intent on pursuing. His efforts dragged him into a love triangle with Annis and her former partner, Corbin Mims, which ultimately left Caleb single ahead of Casa Amor, the show\u2019s midseason twist.<\/p>\n

\n\tCaleb coupled up with Jaiden Bacciocco while in Casa, and the two of them returned to the villa together. When their fellow islanders were later asked to vote on the two least compatible couples, Caleb and Bacciocco were sent home, along with Gal Tshnieder and Amora Robinson on Episode 27.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile his \u201cLove Island\u201d journey may have come to an end, Caleb is just getting started. Season 8 became Peacock\u2019s most-watched TV debut ever, \u00a0and he\u2019s ready to \u201cride the train\u201d of its success. Caleb says he\u2019s open to any opportunities that may come his way, which includes trying his hand at acting (\u201cPeople tell me I kind of resemble Matthew McConaughey\u201d).<\/p>\n

\n\tThe \u201cLove Island USA\u201d season finale airs this Sunday on Peacock. Until then, Caleb is waiting for his former contestants to join him outside the villa, and, no, the internet\u2019s very strong opinions haven\u2019t changed how he views his friendships.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis is controversial, but I love Sincere,\u201d he says. \u201cI don\u2019t love the way he goes about things, but whenever it\u2019s just me and him and we can vibe and talk about anything other than his connection and what he\u2019s doing, it\u2019s good.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBelow, Caleb talks to Variety <\/em>about his unexplored connection with Melanie Moreno, his thoughts on \u201cBrinity\u201d and where he and Jaiden stand now.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tWhat was it like getting your phone back and seeing everybody\u2019s reaction on social media?\t<\/h5>\n

\n\tIt\u2019s been insane. Coming off the show, I was not expecting this much. I was in my head like, \u201cIf I\u2019ve got 50,000 followers, that\u2019d be insane.\u201d And then seeing what I have is absolutely out of this world. It doesn\u2019t feel real. I\u2019m waiting to wake up from a dream right now, but it\u2019s just been overwhelming love. The fact that there is very little hate, and the only thing people really have to say about me is I\u2019m boring? It\u2019s been great.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tYou\u2019re posting videos online now that show a lot of your personality that we didn\u2019t get to see on the show. Do you think that\u2019s because of the editing, or would you say you were more reserved in the Villa?\t<\/h5>\n

\n\tI would definitely say I was a little bit more reserved just because it\u2019s a wild environment. I\u2019m a little bit in an uncomfortable situation, but I also feel like my personality wasn\u2019t portrayed as much as I would have wanted it to. I was very unproblematic. I didn\u2019t have much drama, and this show is based on drama. If you\u2019re not going to put me in there because I\u2019m not dramatic, I\u2019m fine with that. I\u2019d much rather be myself and get less screen time.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tWe\u2019re getting to see the full picture now.\t<\/h5>\n

\n\tIt\u2019s not performative. People say I\u2019m performative. I\u2019m like, \u201cNo, this is just me. I\u2019m sorry you didn\u2019t see this in there, but this is actually me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\tI\u2019m sure you\u2019ve seen that you\u2019re basically the internet\u2019s boyfriend now. Have you been seeing all of the edits?\t<\/h5>\n

\n\tI have. It\u2019s insane not being able to walk 200 feet without pictures, and, honestly, I love it. Just to know this many people support me has been insane. Seeing myself on my For You page, I\u2019m like \u201cOK, this is probably just because it\u2019s my phone and I\u2019ve been liking this stuff.\u201d But then everyone is reaching out to me saying \u201cYou\u2019re all over the internet.\u201d I\u2019m just now starting to realize that it\u2019s as big as it is.<\/p>\n

\nYou worked on elevators before the show. With all the attention now, do you see yourself going <\/strong>back to that?\t<\/h5>\n

\n\tHell no. I remember sitting at work one day, and these older guys were talking about how they would go back and change so much about their life, just warning me to get out of the trade while I could. If I were to sit there and continue doing that until the day I die, then I would have been holding myself back so much. I\u2019m so happy to be out of that. It\u2019s a very, very risky job. I had many instances where I could have got seriously injured.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tWhat do you have planned next?\t<\/h5>\n

\n\tI\u2019m definitely going to ride the train and see where this goes. I\u2019m probably going to get out of Charleston. Not too sure where that is yet, maybe L.A., maybe Miami, just more connections. More freedom. Charleston is bigger than Asheboro, but it\u2019s still pretty small, so there\u2019s not a whole lot going on here. Now I\u2019m really up for anything. Maybe, down the road, acting. I\u2019m trying to soak it all in and not really think too far in the future. I\u2019m excited for anything that comes my way, and I\u2019m very open-minded to whatever happens.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tLet\u2019s talk about acting. Would you star in a rom-com? Drama? What\u2019s the dream?\t<\/h5>\n

\n\tGrowing up, I always loved Matthew McConaughey, and people tell me I kind of resemble him. I love his stuff, so maybe stuff like that. I love the \u201cFast and Furious\u201d franchise as well. Some action or drama would be cool.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tHow are you and Jaiden doing right now?\t<\/h5>\n

\n\tWe\u2019ve stayed in contact. We\u2019re still texting and talking. Everything\u2019s going good between us. We haven\u2019t really had the time to actually talk to each other about what this is, and how we\u2019re going to go about things. We\u2019ve both been so busy since we\u2019ve got back. We still need to have conversations and see where everything\u2019s at. It\u2019s still very early, so the long distance thing is also something that\u2019s pretty scary. We\u2019re going to have to cross that bridge when it comes to it.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tHave you reached out to any other Islanders since being back home?\t<\/h5>\n

\n\tMe and Gal had came home together. America is going to hate this, but I like Gal. He\u2019s a really cool dude. I also reached out to Gabe. He\u2019s already ready for me to come down to Miami and hang out, so I\u2019m looking forward to that. I did finally get to meet Sean.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tHow was that?\t<\/h5>\n

\n\tIt was good. He\u2019s a really good dude. I haven\u2019t talked to him over the phone yet, but we texted a little bit. <\/p>\n

\n\t\tWho are you most excited to see again?\t<\/h5>\n

\n\tReally everybody. This is controversial, but I love Sincere. I don\u2019t love the way he goes about things, but whenever it\u2019s just me and him and we can vibe and talk about anything other than his connection and what he\u2019s doing, it\u2019s good. I think he\u2019s a good friend. Maybe not as good of a relationship guy. He did really go about things in a really wrong way, and I was the first one to tell him, \u201cYou\u2019re really fucking up dude.\u201d And the thing is, he would acknowledge that. But then he does it again. When I walked in there, he was the first one to welcome me in with open arms. It was hard for me to be pissed at him for the way he was moving. I was frustrated with it. I\u2019m sure everyone was, but I do think he is a good guy. I think [him and Melanie] could work through it.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tWho do you want to win? Are you team Melanie and Sincere?\t<\/h5>\n

\n\tI think Bryce and Trinity are really cute. They\u2019re probably one of my favorite couples, just because of their whole journey. They have been the slowest burn I\u2019ve ever seen. The fact that they\u2019re so into just wanting everything to do with each other, it\u2019s really cute.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tOn \u201cAftersun,\u201d you said one of your regrets was not getting to explore your connection with Melanie. Is there anything else you regret?\t<\/h5>\n

\n\tWhen I said that, I was more so meaning that when I went in there, I went straight after Kenzie. I didn\u2019t get to explore other things. Me and Melanie did have a few chats, and they were really good. It wasn\u2019t something that I was like, \u201cI need to talk to Melanie as well.\u201d It was more so like walking in there, she was a girl I wanted to chat to. It fizzled out a little bit, because of the way her and Sincere were both going through so much together, and Sincere being one of my good friends in there, I was helping him through so much. I was telling him how to go about everything, so me giving him all this advice, I want to see him use that. I want to see him win. So for me to go behind his back would be kind of hypocritical. \u00a0<\/p>\n
