Listen below!<\/p>\n<p><iframe allowfullscreen=\"true\" class=\"pmc-protected-embed\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"180\" id=\"pmc-protected-embed-2\" loading=\"lazy\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/omny.fm\/shows\/awards-circuit-variety\/emmy-nominations-mega-roundtable-the-pitt-and-hacks-dominate-but-widow-s-bay-and-pluribus-are-waiting-in-the-wings\/embed?media=audio&amp;size=wide&amp;style=cover\" width=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe nominations were announced Wednesday morning by Emmy winners\u00a0Liza Col\u00f3n-Zayas (\u201cThe Bear\u201d) and Jeff\u00a0Hiller\u00a0(\u201cSomebody Somewhere\u201d), along with TV Academy chair Cris Abrego. Among the highlights, hit HBO Max medical series \u201cThe Pitt\u201d led all programs with a whopping 25 nominations, including outstanding drama and 13 acting nods (with star Noah Wyle up for lead actor). <\/p>\n<p>\n\tAnd another HBO Max smash, \u201cHacks,\u201d earned 24 nominations for its fifth season,\u00a0the most ever for a comedy.\u00a0(\u201cHacks\u201d beat out the previous record holders, \u201cThe Bear\u201d and \u201cThe Studio,\u201d which both had 23.) Star Jean Smart is now in line to win her fifth Emmy for the show and her eighth overall, which would put her in a tie for the actress with the most Emmy acting wins in history.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAlso, the next nominee toppers were both first-year Apple TV phenomenons: Horror comedy \u201cWidow\u2019s Bay,\u201d which saw a surge of interest toward the end of Emmy FYC season, earned 19 nods. And twisty drama newcomer \u201cPluribus\u201d earned a 18 nominations. Meanwhile, Netflix\u2019s \u201cBeef\u201d was the top limited\/anthology series in nom tallies, with 16.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tBut there were some disappointments as well. \u201cTo be honest, I was really bummed that \u2018Half Man\u2019 didn\u2019t get more love,\u201d Longeretta says. \u201cI will say that one was for me the big one. That while Richard Gadd was incredible in it, not recognizing Jamie Bell was pretty shocking to me. And not recognizing the show overall because the writing was insane.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tMeanwhile, the \u201cWidow\u2019s Bay\u201d showing was a pleasant surprise, as shows that premiere late in the Emmy cycle often have a tough time garnering attention. \u201cI know for the longest time, talking to a lot of people, they felt the didn\u2019t have time for another show. But the the buzz on \u2018Widow\u2019s Bay\u2019 was so unrelentless that  I think a lot of people checked it out, and went, \u2018oh, this is great,&#8217;\u201d Schneider says.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/relocationobserver.com\/?p=4023\">Jack White Keeps Rock \u2018n\u2019 Roll on the Front Burner in \u2018Frozen Charlotte,\u2019 His Heavy and Blazingly Worthy \u2018No Name\u2019 Followup: Album Review<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe group also talks about broadcast TV\u2019s rough showing (few nominations for shows other than \u201cAbbott Elementary\u201d) \u2014 although the return of \u201cDancing With the Stars\u201d to the reality competition field after a decade-long absence was a pleasant surprise (except for the fact that it pushed out Schneider\u2019s beloved \u201cThe Amazing Race\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThen there\u2019s the story of Mariska Hargitay, who is having quite a year: Knicks win, her Broadway show, her doc \u201cMy Mom Jayne\u201d landing two Emmy noms, \u201cSVU\u201d hitting 600 episodes this year and now, she\u2019s hosting the Emmys (the first woman to do so in 15 years).<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAmong other surprises, the Taylor Sheridan universe couldn\u2019t muster a nom for hits like \u201cLandman\u201d or \u201cThe Madison,\u201d despite the star power of Billy Bob Thornton and Michelle Pfeiffer. \u201cThe Bear\u201d still picked up a comedy nod, but star Jeremy Allen White isn\u2019t there. <\/p>\n<p>\n\tAnd Tangcay has a personal favorite: \u201cI loved Sally Field getting in for \u2018Remarkably Bright Creatures. I mean, Sally is just a legend.
