\n\t\u201cBad Bridgets\u201d the Irish period thriller that was one of the buzziest projects to launch at last year\u2019s American Film Market, has found a home.<\/p>\n

\nNetflix will release the film, which will be led by Emilia Jones (\u201cCODA,\u201d \u201cTask\u201d) and Alison Oliver, globally.<\/p>\n

\n\tOliver, who has starred in \u201cSaltburn\u201d and \u201cWuthering Heights,\u201d recently replaced Daisy Edgar-Jones, who was originally attached to play opposite Jones.<\/p>\n

\n\tFrom writer-director Rich Peppiatt, who won a BAFTA for his acclaimed directorial debut \u201cKneecap,\u201d the film is being produced by Margot Robbie\u2019s LuckyChap Entertainment. It was inspired by the book \u201cBad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem, and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women\u201d by Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick.<\/p>\n

\n\tSet in the 19th century against the backdrop of a famine-ravaged Ireland, the story focuses on two sisters who make a treacherous journey to America to escape an abusive father, poverty and hunger. Once in New York, they join the ranks of other Irish women, the so-called \u201cBridgets,\u201d creating mayhem in the city.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe book was optioned by Peppiatt and his \u201cKneecap\u201d producer Trevor Birney in 2025, with the two producing alongside LuckyChap for their Coup d\u2019Etat Films banner, which launched in 2024.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBad Bridgets\u201d will shoot in Northern Ireland and Ireland later in 2026. Oscar-winning production designer James Price and costume designer Kate Hawley are on board.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film was developed with the support of Queens University, Belfast. <\/p>\n

\n\tFilmNation launched the package to international buyers at the AFM, with WME Independent repping for the U.S.<\/p>\n
