\n\tProminent Colombian shingle Rhayuela, known for such memorable pics as Cannes 2015 Un Certain Regard title \u201cAlias Mar\u00eda,\u201d \u201cEl P\u00e1ramo\u201d and \u201cRebellion,\u201d is shuffling its leadership although its six original partners remain on board. Among them, Federico Duran has formed his own company, El Sol Ermita\u00f1o, but retains a stake in the 30-plus year old company.<\/p>\n

\n\tCatherine Villareal and Ana Mar\u00eda Tarazona, will take over the helm while filmmaker Danniela Castro Valencia takes on the role of content consultant.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis new structure gives the partners greater flexibility to pursue projects with other companies and platforms, rather than working exclusively through Rhayuela.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMore than a change, this new structure represents Rhayuela\u2019s natural evolution. What is changing is not the company\u2019s direction, but who is leading it. We want to continue producing stories with a unique voice\u2014stories that embrace creative risk, engage with the world and find new ways to connect with audiences without losing their commercial appeal,\u201d said Villareal and Tarazona.<\/p>\n

\n\tReflecting on the changes, director Jos\u00e9 Luis Rugeles, one of the founding partners alongside Jader Rangel and Oscar Navarro, said: \u201cI think they\u2019re a natural evolution of Rhayuela. We\u2019re making way for a new generation that is taking on the company\u2019s management and day-to-day operations. Of course, we, the partners, will continue to support them, while also opening ourselves up to new opportunities and new challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRugeles and Tarazona\u2019s s TV series project \u201cRookies\u201d (\u201cOficina de Detectives\u201d) just swept the in-kind awards given out at the Bogota Audiovisual Market, which wrapped July 10.<\/p>\n

\n\tRhayuela\u2019s current slate includes some five feature films and three television series in various stages of development, production and distribution. It\u2019s an editorial line that features auteur cinema, documentary, thriller, contemporary drama and comedy.<\/p>\n

\n\tAmong its pics are \u201cThe Other Side\u201d (\u201cEl otro lado\u201d) ,the fifth feature by Rugeles; \u201cOblivion\u201d (\u201cEl Olvido\u201d), a Latin American Gothic thriller; \u201cLovers Go Home,\u201d a co-production between Colombia, Canada and France; military action thriller \u201cThe Awakening\u201d (\u201cEl Despertar\u201d), which premiered at the Guadalajara Film Festival and was sold by Latido to multiple territories, and documentary \u201cThe Shape of Trees\u201d (\u201cLa forma de los arboles\u201d), directed by Castro, with backing from JustFilms at the Ford Foundation.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn television, aside from \u201cRookies,\u201d the company is developing the series \u201cOn Hold,\u201d and \u201cWe Promise You Nothing\u201d (\u201cNo te prometemos nada\u201d), reflecting Rhayuela\u2019s commitment to exploring a variety of genres and narrative formats.<\/p>\n

\n\tRhayuela Films wrapped the shoot of \u201cLovers Go Home!\u201d in Montreal earlier this year. The multi-country co-production \u2013 involving Rhayuela, Duran\u2019s El Sol Ermita\u00f1o (Colombia), Dublin Films (France), Potenza Producciones (Spain) and Camera Oscura (Canada) \u2013 shot in the Colombian cities of Medell\u00edn and Santa Marta in November and December last year.<\/p>\n
