\n\tOne of three Directors\u2019 Fortnight prizes set to be announced May 21, the Label, adjudicated by a jury of four European exhibition executives, ensures the film Europa Cinemas\u2019 backing in the form of additional promotion and incentives for exhibitors to extend the film\u2019s run on screen.<\/p>\n

\n\tProduced by France\u2019s 5 \u00e0 7 Films and sold by Playtime, \u201cToo Many Beasts\u201d stars Alexis Manenti (\u201cLes Mis\u00e9rables\u201d) as Fulda, a disgraced Corsican cop transferred to France\u2019s Northeast where a war between farmers and hunters is spiralling out of control. Investigating the disappearance of a farmer who has taken justice in his own hands, Fulda establishes a growing report with St\u00e9phane, played by Ella Rumpf (\u201cRaw\u201d), the equally offbeat station\u2019s psychologist, as the film spirals towards a comedy-thriller.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cA noir thriller, a detective comedy, a small-town mystery, and an eccentric blend of all three: \u2018Too Many Beasts\u2019 is a genuine surprise \u2013 a strange, delightful French film that grows stranger and more delirious with every passing minute,\u201d wrote critic Diego Lerer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThough \u201cToo Many Beasts\u201d is Arnold\u2019s first feature, she has had a multi-prized short film career. Her first, 2010\u2019s \u201cLe\u00e7on de t\u00e9n\u00e8bres\u201d won the Turin Film Festival\u2019s Jury Award. 2014\u2019s \u201cTotems\u201d took a Locarno best short film Golden Leopard; \u201cStore Policy\u201d won the France TV Award at the 2021 Clermont-Ferrand Festival.<\/p>\n

\n\tProduced by Helen Olive and Martin Bertier \u201cToo Many Beasts\u201d is written by Arnold with J\u00e9r\u00e9mie Dubois, Olivier Seror, Romain Winkler, and Mehdi Ben Attia.<\/p>\n
