The rise in sales was driven primarily by the motion picture group, which saw revenue up 23% and segment profit up 39%. The favorable earnings picture comes after the movies division has recaptured its former glory after a sustained theatrical slump, releasing hits like \u201cThe Long Walk.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\n\tMore important, Lionsgate swung to a net profit of  $70.2 million. A year earlier, the company posted a loss of $117.4 million. It also logged 37 cents in adjusted earnings per share, with adjusted OIBDA of $165.4 million in the quarter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThat beat Wall Street\u2019s expectations. Revenue for the division increased to $652 million, up from $528.5 million in the same period of 2025. Segment profit hit $187.1 million compared to $135.3 million in the year-ago period. The earnings period, which ended in March, didn\u2019t include ticket sales for \u201cMichael,\u201d the studio\u2019s blockbuster musical biopic, which hit theaters in April. <\/p>\n<p>\n\tLionsgate\u2019s TV arm releases shows like the Apple TV+ hit \u201cThe Studio,\u201d as well as \u201cYellowjackets\u201d and \u201cThe Rainmaker.\u201d Revenue for the division was down sharply due to timing of delivery of episodes, coming in at $254.6 million compared to $543.3 million in the year-ago period.
