\nCharli xcx continues her \u201crock music\u201d era with the release of the song and video for \u201cSS26,\u201d taking fans behind the scenes and on the runway at a fashion show.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe singer preempted the video release of \u201cSS26\u201d with a 30-minute \u201cPre Show\u201d on YouTube, where she tried on different outfits and showcased clothes from designers she\u2019s worn as of late (Zadig & Voltaire in the video for \u201cRock Music,\u201d Lou de B\u00e8toly at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival). She then premiered the official video, in which she served a variety of looks while mugging for the cameras.<\/p>\n

\n\tCharli teased \u201cSS26\u201d earlier this week, putting out the song\u2019s lyrics on her Substack on Monday. She also posted a flier for \u201cSS26\u201d on socials, inviting fans to \u201cattend the presentation of Charli xcx SS26 directed by Torso.\u201d Like with \u201cRock Music,\u201d \u201cSS26\u201d was co-written and co-produced with A.G. Cook and Finn Keane.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe pop singer set off this new era by suggesting that it could potentially be heading in a rock direction after a British Vogue cover story quoted a lyric, \u201cI think the dancefloor is dead, so now we\u2019re making rock music.\u201d \u201cIf I\u2019d made another album that felt more dance-leaning, it would have felt really hard, really sad, but what\u2019s interesting for me is to bend the possibilities of what my perspective on that could be,\u201d she said in the interview. \u201cFor me, it\u2019s fun to flip the form. We know there\u2019s gonna be people who are bothered by it, but that\u2019s fine.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThough there was initial confusion about the album heading in a rock direction, Charli posted some behind-the-scenes footage from the \u201cRock Music\u201d recording session and captioned the clip, \u201cA video of me making a song called \u2018rock music\u2019 that is not actually rock music which is funny because I never said I was making a rock album.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLittle else is known about what\u2019s assumed to be her upcoming seventh studio album. But she has barely taken her foot off the gas over the past few years, taking her 2024 album \u201cBrat\u201d around the globe on tour and releasing her own film \u201cThe Moment.\u201d This past February, she released the soundtrack album for Emerald Fennell\u2019s \u201cWuthering Heights,\u201d which featured collaborations with John Cale and Sky Ferreira.<\/p>\n
