\n\tCurrently priming \u201cNumber 10,\u201d one of the most awaited of British TV series, \u201cSherlock\u201d creator and \u201cDoctor Who\u201d showrunner Steven Moffat will attend Serielizados-Barcelona Series Festival as its headline international guest. He will be joined producer Sue Vertue, producer of \u201cMr. Bean,\u201d \u201cSherlock\u201d and \u201cNumber 10\u201d and CEO of Hartswood Films, the U.K.\u2019s longest-established scripted producer, also behind ITVX and ITV1 hit \u201cDouglas Is Cancelled.\u201d Hartswood Films was majority acquired by ITV Studios in 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tSerielizados has yet to reveal what Moffat and Vertue will talk about. If a Series Mania masterclass is anything to go on, their session in Barcelona will most certainly be funny.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cReal life is funny \u2013 drama is a lie,\u201d Moffat said at Serielizados in Lille. \u201cYou can\u2019t be too funny, too sexy or too pretty. Always go for funny. Humor is truth on speed, that\u2019s what it is. It\u2019s insight with velocity.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBritish humor is one of the things the British can be very good at, and one of its television industry\u2019s main export values.<\/p>\n

\n\tSerielizados is ever more aligned with the Catalan TV industry while still attracting the Spanish premieres of some of the most talked-about international series of the year \u2013 2025\u2019s festival was won, for example, by Norway\u2019s \u201cA Better Man\u201d and Canada\u2019s \u201cEmpathy\u201d \u2013 the conference strand at Serielizados industry arm, Serielizados Pro, generated a high-quality debate energized top executives from Nordic broadcasters SVT, DR and YLE, plus also reps from BBC Studios, Arte France, Germany\u2019s Beta Film and Paris-based Slot Machine.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIn-person attendance soared last year 80% to 16,000, while Serielizados\u2019 online version, hosted by upscale SVOD service Filmin, hit 194,000 viewers.<\/p>\n

\n\u2018In Vitro,\u2019 \u2018Epis\u00f2dic\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n\tIn 2026, running Oct. 19-28, Serielizados will open with \u201cIn Vitro,\u201d backed by Catalan public broadcaster 3Cat and HBO Max and set to debut this fall.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tCreated by Marc Crehuet and Alejandra Guimer\u00e0, and directed by Creheut (\u201cPop R\u00e0pid,\u201d \u201cThe One-Eyed King,\u201d !Mirror, Mirror\u201d), it turns on Blanca, 37, a biologist, new to a fertility clinic where she confronts the needs and risks of her clients and her own as well.\u00a0Beta Film picked up international distribution rights for\u201cIn Vitro\u201d ahead of Series Mania.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tSerielizados closes with an experiement, the first season of \u201cEpis\u00f2dic: El principi d\u2019Arquimedes,\u201d a six-part anthology series, each episode lasting 15 minutes, made by 38 audiovisual students from universities, film schools and educational institutions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe series is directed by Ainhoa Lastra (\u201cLa nit del foc,\u201d at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra,\u00a0 and Andrea Morales (Paraules d\u2019amor) and Carlos R. Haro (\u201cCinc minuts m\u00e9s, si us plau\u201d). The series is written by Daniel Dur\u00e1n Pous \u2013 a producer on \u201cUnicorni\u201d with two shorts to his credit, \u201cHipolit\u201d and \u201cL\u2019ultim tren\u201d \u2013 adapting the \u201cThe Arquimedes Principle,\u201d from playwright Josep Mar\u00eda Mir\u00f3. An alleged child-abuse drama which cleverly plays with audiences own sense of prejudice, the work is hailed in its native Catalonia as a modern Catalan classic.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u2018Segunda Temporada,\u2019 \u2018Nissaga de poder,\u2019 \u2018Literaturium de s\u00e9ries<\/strong>\u2018<\/p>\n

\n\tSerielizados will also showcase \u201cSegunda Temporada,\u201d the latest Filmin Original from Spain\u2019s upscale SVOD streaming service, turning on Paula, a once bestselling generational voice who, after writers\u2019 block, is reduced to ghosting the bio of a washed up trap music legend, just out of prison, and maybe or maybe not feeling redemption. Created by Miguel Angel Blanca, behind breakout Filmin hit \u201cAutodefensa,\u201d \u201cSegunda Temporada\u201d will contend in Serielizados national competition.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe TV festival will also showcase the 30th anniversary of 3Cat daily soap \u201cNissaga de poder,\u201d a milestone in its drive for ambitious originals, and \u201cLiteraturium de s\u00e9ries,\u201d an exclusive live edition of the comedy podcast reviewing the supposed but fictional best TV series of the year.<\/p>\n

\nMind The Gap\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n\tSerielizados also announced Tuesday the second edition of Mind the Gap, its project pitching showcase which will take place Oct. 21, forming part of Serielizados PRO. Expanded to 11 selected titles, with its call for submissions now open and extended through Aug. 17, eight will be chosen from an open call and three tapped from winners at Germany\u2019s Seriencamp Co-Production Pitch and Spain\u2019s ECAM Forum and Iberseries & Platino Industria \u2013 an indication of how European events are working together to get projects in front of its top commissioners, production executives and sales agents who make up Mind the Gap\u2019s jury.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tParticipants can also expect press coverage. Winners at Mind the Gap\u2019s inaugural edition last year were led by best series laureate \u201cFortune Cookie,\u201d a low-fi sci-fi drama thriller set in Madrid\u2019s Usera Chinatown, created by Adri\u00e1n Saba (\u201cThe Erection of Toribio Bardelli\u201d) and produced by Kubik Films, Newen Studios Spanish banner headed by brothers Fernando, Jorge and Alberto S\u00e1nchez-Cabezudo.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cA comedy about two Gen Z misfits dodging eviction, chasing dreams, flipping the finger to adulthood and to the glittering city [Barcelona] that\u2019s leaving them behind,\u201d said producer Anna M. Bofarull, \u201cPrecarity Fair,\u201d created by Eli Cruz and Mika Cilindro and produced by KaBoGa, won Mind the Gap\u2019s Konga Music Award.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a further move, Serielizados has released its poster with a slogan, \u201cAn Eye for It,\u201d which, it says, \u201cemphasizes the role of its programming team in filtering and curating the ever-growing number of television series, helping audiences discover the most exciting and distinctive titles in an increasingly crowded landscape.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSerielizados has indeed often shown impecable taste in its lineup selection and top prizes, a jury recognising Sweden\u2019s \u201cPressure Point\u201d in 2024, for instance, as best international series. Plaudits in 2025 in the national competition went to \u201cThe Anatomy of a Moment\u201d and \u201cJakarta.\u201d<\/p>\n
