It marks the first lead series comedy role of Del Toro\u2019s career as well as a reunion for him and Stiller. The two previously collaborated on the Showtime limited series \u201cEscape at Dannemora,\u201d which Stiller directed and in which Del Toro starred. He is a three-time Oscar nominee, winning the award for best supporting actor for \u201cTraffic\u201d in 2001, for which he also won a Golden Globe. He has also been nominated for his roles in \u201c21 Grams\u201d and \u201cOne Battle After Another,\u201d the latter of which also netted him a Golden Globe nom. His other notable film roles include \u201cSicario\u201d and \u201cSicario: Day of the Soldado,\u201d Wes Anderson\u2019s \u201cThe French Dispatch\u201d and \u201cThe Phoenician Scheme,\u201d and \u201cFear and Loathing in Las Vegas.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\n\tHe is repped by LBI Entertainment, Range Media Partners, and Hansen Jacobson. <\/p>\n<p>\n\tMike Judge is co-writing \u201cProtective Custody\u201d along with Steve Hely and Dave King. All three are executive producers and co-showrunners, with Judge also attached to direct. Stiller will executive produce in addition to starring via Red Hour. John Lesher of Red Hour also executive produces, as does Ben Silverman, Howard Owens, and Rodney Ferrell of Propagate Content. Michael Rotenberg and Oly Obst executive produce for 3 Arts Entertainment.
