The local fire department had responded to his house for the report of an unconscious man, according to TMZ.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tRussell started out writing screenplays and working as a production manager and assistant director on independent films. He met Frank Darabont while working as an executive producer on \u201cHell Night,\u201d and went on to collaborate with him. <\/p>\n<p>\n\tHe wrote the script for Dennis Quaid-starrer \u201cDreamscape,\u201d directed by Joseph Ruben. Russell then made his directing debut on \u201cA Nightmare on Elm Street 3,\u201d which helped revitalize the franchise and grossed more than the first two installments as well as launching Patricia Arquette\u2019s career. The film earned an Oscar nomination for visual effects. <\/p>\n<p>\n\tRussell\u2019s next films were \u201cEraser,\u201d with Arnold Schwarzenegger, and \u201cThe Scorpion King,\u201d the first leading role for Dwayne Johnson. <\/p>\n<p>\n\tIn 2024, he directed a remake of \u201cWitchboard,\u201d and told <em>Variety<\/em> at the time, \u201cWe have to humanize these things, whether it\u2019s action or comedy or drama,\u201d he says. \u201cYou gotta get into your performers\u2019 heads.
