The series will\u00a0delve into Mangione\u2019s background,\u00a0\u201ctracing his path from a privileged Baltimore upbringing to the center of one of America\u2019s most shocking crimes, for which he has entered a not guilty plea,\u201d according to ABC News\u2019 description. The podcast \u201cexamines what may have driven him to murder as this case became a lightning rod in the\u00a0larger debate around healthcare in the United States.\u201d The series is hosted by ABC News legal analyst\u00a0Brian Buckmire, who previously hosted award-winning podcast \u201cBad Rap: The Case Against Diddy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cWhat Happened to the McStays?\u201d, hosted by ABC News correspondent Ashan Singh, will premiere July 28 for \u201c20\/20 True Crime+\u201d subscribers and Aug. 11 for non-subscribers. The series covers the case of the McStay family, which on Feb. 4, 2010, seemingly vanished into thin air from their home in Southern California. Per the show\u2019s description, the McStays\u2019 mysterious disappearance ignited an investigation that led officials to conclude that the family had left for Mexico \u2014 a theory that unraveled years later in the Mojave Desert and eventually led investigators to a suspect that no one expected.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/relocationobserver.com\/?p=5045\">\u2018The Odyssey\u2019 Holds Top Spot as Vijay\u2019s \u2018Jana Nayagan\u2019 Bows at No. 5 at U.K. and Ireland Box Office<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tKatie den Daas, SVP of global newsgathering at ABC News, said the new subscription tier on Apple Podcasts for \u201c20\/20\u201d shows is aimed at super-serving fans of the genre. \u201cWe think what sets us apart is that we are still using our fact-based, true-crime journalism to tell these stories,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe \u201c20\/20 True Crime+\u201d subscription is launching first on Apple Podcasts because \u201cApple is just ubiquitous,\u201d den Daas said. \u201cWe want to make it as easy as possible to access our content.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tJanice Johnston, executive producer of \u201c20\/20,\u201d said the podcast subscription offering provides an outlet for the program to give audiences additional exclusive content from cases that have been featured on TV, like the McStay family murders, in addition to podcast-only episodes.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cWe shoot so much \u2014 we do so many interviews, and there are so many gems we leave behind that we are unable to include,\u201d Johnston said.
