After many fans tagged Kahan in the comments, he responded on Tuesday afternoon with a message of disapproval: \u201cWould never approve of my music being used in support of you or this administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cAmerican Cars\u201d was used in White House posts on both Instagram and TikTok. It appears the sound was disabled on Instagram, but is still included on the TikTok post. Noah Levine, who co-wrote \u201cAmerican Cars\u201d with Kahan, also left an Instagram comment that was much more pointed, writing, \u201cYou fat fuck this song isn\u2019t for you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tRepresentatives for Kahan and the White House did not immediately respond to <em>Variety<\/em>\u2018s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/relocationobserver.com\/?p=5091\">On-Set Visual Effects Workers on \u2018Star Wars\u2019 Productions Join IATSE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tKahan joins a growing list of artists who have spoken out against the White House for using their music on social media. This past weekend, Katy Perry blasted the administration for using her 2010 hit \u201cFirework\u201d in a TikTok post that included footage of military strikes. \u201cI am deeply appalled and angry to see \u2018Firework\u2019 used on the @WhiteHouse TikTok account as a backing track for video footage of military strikes,\u201d she wrote on X. \u201cI did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not condone it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIn June, Ariana Grande shared similar sentiments after the White House used a version of her 2024 song \u201cBye\u201d in a TikTok post that depicted ICE agents arresting and handcuffing people.
