\nAnthony Mackie recently told IMDb (via The Independent) about Ian McKellen\u2019s wholesome reaction when he told him on the \u201cAvengers: Doomsday\u201d set that he was playing Captain America.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI go to Ian McKellen, he goes, \u2018Hello, son.\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018Ian McKellen, sir. You\u2019re amazing. It\u2019s amazing to work with you,\u2019\u201d Mackie recalled. \u201cHe goes, \u2018So what are you doing in the film?\u2019 and I\u2019m like, \u2018I\u2019m Captain America.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe continued, \u201cAnd he goes, \u2018Wonderful\u2026 and you deserve that.\u2019 Thank you, Sir Ian, thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMcKellen reprised his \u201cX-Men\u201d role as Magneto for \u201cDoomsday,\u201d which features a massive team-up of Marvel\u2019s biggest stars. On the MCU side, returning cast members include Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Danny Ramirez, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Lewis Pullman, Robert Downey Jr. and more. Several of McKellen\u2019s \u201cX-Men\u201d co-stars are also joining the fray, including Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming and Rebecca Romijn.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring a recent film festival appearance in Rome, McKellen said that while shooting an action scene in \u201cAvengers: Doomsday,\u201d the film\u2019s directors, the Russo Brothers, told him to \u201clook more furious\u201d when acting out Magneto\u2019s magnetic powers. McKellen said he envisioned destroying Donald Trump\u2019s Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago, to inspire his rage.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c[They told me to] make it look as if you hate what you\u2019re destroying,\u201d McKellen said. \u201cSo I stood there and I shouted: \u2018Mar-a-Lago!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAvengers: Doomsday,\u201d which hits theaters on Dec. 18, follows all of Marvel\u2019s mightiest heroes as they team up to take on Doctor Doom, played by Downey Jr. in a switch-up from his iconic take as Tony Stark.<\/p>\n
