He released his indie debut album, \u201cWishbone Saloon,\u201d in 2002 and his major-label bow, \u201cMescalito,\u201d five years later. But he broke into the national consciousness in 2010 by co-writing and performing two songs on the soundtrack for the hit film \u201cCrazy Heart,\u201d including the song \u201cThe Weary Kind,\u201d which earned him an Oscar, a Grammy, a Golden Globe and a Critics\u2019 Choice Award.
