The previous record was held by \u201cAvengers: Endgame,\u201d which made $60 million in Thursday previews on its way to the biggest opening weekend of all time.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tTo compare the two historic superhero movies, \u201cAvengers: Endgame\u201d set the all-time opening weekend record with $357 million domestically and an eye-popping $1.2 billion globally. Sony and Marvel\u2019s \u201cBrand New Day\u201d is aiming to make between $260 million and $280 million in its opening weekend, which would make it the second biggest launch of all time \u2014 behind \u201cEndgame\u201d and above \u201cSpider-Man: No Way Home.\u201d Some estimates even put the \u201cBrand New Day\u201d opening above $300 million, but Sony is playing it safe and offering a more conservative start of $190 million to $195 million. <\/p>\n<p>\n\tOnly nine movies have opened to more than $200 million, with \u201cAvengers: Endgame\u201d netting over $300 million. Holland\u2019s last adventure, which had the crossover star power of past Spidey actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, opened to $327 million internationally and $587 million globally, going down as the third-best worldwide start in history.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cBrand New Day\u201d picks up four years after \u201cNo Way Home\u201d ended, with the entire world forgetting that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. Holland\u2019s hero is alone, without his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) or best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon), and faces a mysterious new villain played by Sadie Sink.
