\n\tRichard L. O\u2019Connor, an Emmy-winning producer known for his work as an executive in charge of productions like \u201cThe Muppet Movie,\u201d \u201cOn Golden Pond\u201d and \u201cHickey & Boggs,\u201d died July 22 in Palm Desert, California. He was 96.<\/p>\n

\n\tO\u2019Connor\u2019s death was confirmed to Variety<\/em> by his family.<\/p>\n

\n\tO\u2019Connor won an Emmy back in 1990 for his work on \u201cA Mother\u2019s Courage: The Mary Thomas Story.\u201d He also received nominations for producing \u201cThe Final Days,\u201d a chronicle of Richard Nixon\u2019s last months in the White House, and \u201cFatal Vision,\u201d a miniseries starring Eva Marie Saint, Karl Malden and Barry Newman.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs an executive in charge of production, O\u2019Connor\u2019s credits include \u201cAcross 110th Street,\u201d \u201cRaise the Titanic,\u201d \u201cBorderline,\u201d \u201cHard Country\u201d and \u201cBarbarosa,\u201d along with multiple TV movies like \u201cSanctuary of Fear,\u201d \u201cFriendly Fire\u201d and an adaptation of \u201cAll Quiet on the Western Front.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHis work as a producer spanned across the \u201970s into the 2000s, with credits on \u201cRun, Joe, Run,\u201d \u201cNBC Special Treat,\u201d \u201cShades of LA,\u201d \u201cChildren of the Dark\u201d and \u201cVoices from the Grave.\u201d On his last project, 2001\u2019s \u201cFace Value,\u201d he was credited as co-executive producer.<\/p>\n

\n\tO\u2019Connor retired after multiple decades in the business and lived out his years near San Francisco\u2019s Botanical Gardens. He was born in San Francisco on Jan. 7, 1930. Along with his twin brother, Don, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. O\u2019Connor eventually moved to Los Angeles, getting his start at CBS Television City in the mailroom.<\/p>\n

\n\tO\u2019Connor is survived by daughters Kathleen, Triglia and Karen, stepchildren Kate, Marc and Matt, and grandchildren Rachael, Kayleigh, Seth and Joshua.<\/p>\n
